Ki, Dummett, And Manquillo Start At Leicester City

Rafa Benitez has just announced the Newcastle team for the tough game at Leicester City tonight.

In spite of Mo Diame being fit Ki Sung-yueng keeps his place in tonight’s team with Paul Dummett coming in for the injured Florian Lejeune.

Javier Manquillo – starts tonight

And right-back Javier Manquillo gets a rare start coming in for DeAndre Yedlin, who is dropped and on the bench for tonight’s game.

Only about one in five fans think we can win this game tonight at the King Power Stadium.

Manquillo was obvious as Yedlin was gash last game but Ki is a bit of a surprise, we may not be sitting back entirely.

I am going for a 0-1 win tonight, that would surely lead to make or break time to get Benitez signed up to a new deal. Virtually confirming safety means there are no reasons for any hold ups. The sale of the club confirmed after gaining 3 points would set me up for one hell of an Easter.

Muto hat trick. Boom. You heard it here first. Get yourself down to the bookies and you’ll be living on easy street for the rest of your lives. Thank me later. I’m a time traveling wizard in black and white stripes. Won’t spoil the final score for you though 🙂

Morgan and Maguire, one of the slowest CB pairings if not the slowest in the league. Time to get off the mark Almiron. Be direct, if there’s space behind them then knock it past.

Neville and Carragher arguing about how big a club we are. Neville surprisingly sticking up for us! Still can’t stand either one of them though.

Because shelvey is finished as a nufc player
All th rumours just after Christmas about shelvey and Rafa havingwords seem well founded
    Shelvey has done a mitro
As lngbas Rafa stays shelvey goes

The greatest threat to a clean sheet today is Schar and his penchant for impulsively diving into tackles

Rafa seems to fall out with great players to the detriment of the teams he coaches quite frequently
Colback, Shelvey, mitrovic, xabi alonso at Liverpool etc
We cannot afford to keep writing off top notch talent because the manager has personal issues with them

    Mark Lawrenson

Two former Liverpool managers go head to head here, with Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers up against Newcastle’s Rafael Benitez.

I have a feeling Rodgers will come out on top, because he has got the Foxes at it – they have won their past four games – and Newcastle’s away form is not the greatest anyway.

The Magpies have been relying on results at St James’ Park to keep them out of trouble, but I don’t see them getting dragged back into the relegation scrap because one more win will essentially see them safe.

    Prediction: 2-0

From the BBC: Leicester have played more Premier League games on a Friday without a victory than any other side in the competition (P6 W0 D2 L4). Meanwhile, Newcastle have lost more Premier League games on Friday than any other side (6).

Agree with toonbrother. Rafa seems to have alot of issues with 2 of our best players to have been with us in the last couple of years in mitro and shelvey.

    I wish we had Rodgers.

I don’t think Rafa has fallen out with Jonjo, it’s possible that he’s a little wary about starting him after he declared he was fully fit when he wasn’t, I’m sure we’ll see him at some point tonight.

    I think it is clear
It’s rafas way or the highway
There is no discussion and no chance for a return when a player crosses the Rafa line
Shelvey has clearly done something bad!!!
Well at least in Rafas eyes

Id like to see Almiron playing centrally behind rondon tbh, feel he is wasted out wide – too many times when he gets on the ball he is too far away from Rondon and too far away from their box to use his skill to get a shot away or create. You want your best players in the position where they can do the most damage and i dont think he is.

I would go to a back 4 now, the 5 is ok at times but 541 every game isnt giving us the best chance to win games – when we do attack teams we crate chances, need to be bold now.

So long as Vardy isn’t allowed to run at us.

Looks like Benitez is going to let one of our better players leave for his own stubborn personal reasons, one of the few times I disagree with him, Shelvey is to good to let go.

I think we have the ability to win tonight with Rondon and Almiron potentially causing problems, but that all depends which Newcastle show up… Could just as easily be another dire showing by us and Leicester will beat us like its a training match.

Rafa has the patience to give a player the chance to get up to speed over a number of matches and does not usually swap more than one player in each area of the pitch. There is no conspiracy around Shelvey, he just has to wait his turn and remain professional.

I think that is where he will finish
But whilst we are suspect on the flanks
I think Rafa sees Perez as a safer option than Atsu
My guess is wide men are Rafas priority in the summer and Perez will probably return to Spain
    Allowing Almiron to move Central

3 – 1 to Leicester. Rondon to miss a couple of sitters. Almiron to break his duck.

Do not think Rondon is in the future plans. To be frank I do not think he is a PL centre forward. Best we’ve got at the minute though.
