Looks Like A Huge Clearout This Summer At Newcastle

With news that Matt Ritchie has been told he can leave the club this summer, it looks like there will be some significant changes in the squad for next season.

Mo Diame will probably leave becasue he’s too old when he turns 32 in June for a two-year extension and will be offered only a one-year deal; he wants a two-year deal to stay on Tyneside.

Isaac Hayden will be allowed to leave the club this summer, and maybe we could get £15M for the central midfielder who has improved a lot under Rafa’s guidance over the last three years.

Isaac needs to be closer to his family down south.

And it’s looking like Jonjo Shelvey does not have a long-term future at Newcastle after he has had difficulty getting back into the first team this year.

Joselu will be made available for transfer since he no longer fits into Newcastle’s long term plans.

And it’s still not clear if Mike Ashley will endorse a £16.5M move for on-loan Salomon Rondon who turns 30 in September.

Mo Diame – likely to leave Newcastle this summer

And Newcastle have players on loan who are no longer needed at Newcastle and will probably depart this summer.

They include the following players and their loan clubs:

  • Jack Colback (Nottingham Forest)
  • Achraf Lazaar (Sheffield Wednesday)
  • Henri Saivet ( Bursaspor )
  • Rolando Aarons (Sheffield Wednesday)
  • Jacob Murphy (West Brom)

It remains to be seen if Rafa wants Dwight Gayle back at Newcastle after he has had another excellent Championship season scoring 21 league goals for West Brom.

He could possibly be involved in a swap deal for Rondon.

Ciaran Clark is now 5th choice center-back but could be kept in the summer as the unlucky Florian Lejeune recovers from his second ACL knee injury in nine months.

And two players we have on loan at the club – Kenedy and Antonio Barreca will leave the club at the end of the season.

Rob Elliot, Jamie Sterry, and Callum Roberts could also be leaving Newcastle this summer.

So there could be a lot of players who will be sold (or loaned out) this summer to get them off the wage bill so new players can be brought in.

What do you think?

Mike Ashley is a leech and won’t leave until nothing left to suck out – If I was Rafa Benitez I’d walk

The bloke that come up with the plan to extend St’James’ park sez your
Just need someone who is a visionary , well , his plan looks cockeyed and all over the shop .

No need to cause any disruption or turn the pitch 90° .

    How’s this for visionary .

Extend the Gallowgate in line with the 2 already developed stands and stick 2 new tiers on the East stand right along the terrace, how I hear you ask ? .. put those 2 new tiers on massive hydraulic rams , put them up on Match days, down through the week ..preserving any rules on light and transgression on to Leazes terrace .. Job done ..no disruption and should cost as much as Rainbow bridge to raise and lower . £1.50 .

    75 thousand. Simple.

If the long running saga of Rafa’s contract proves something, it is that he really loves the club.
Anyone else with Rafa’s experience, ability, know-how and integrity would have told Ashley where to stuff his contract some time ago.
He seems to be hanging on in the vain hope (IMO) that the fat one will relent and offer him a chance to make the owner even more money by getting us to play against the biggest teams in Europe.
Good business man – you must be joking !
