A Ludicrous Situation – Is Mike Ashley Forcing Rafa Out Of Newcastle?

Rafa Benitez has returned to Newcastle to begin preparations for the game at Brighton on Saturday.

It appears he is no further forward on knowing what the answers are to the questions he submitted over four weeks ago to the Newcastle hierarchy – at the clubs’ request.

The Telegraph is reporting today that Rafa will seek a meeting with Lee Charnley this week to try to understand what Newcastle’s position is on what they are willing to offer him.

Rafa wants changes in the transfer system, significant transfer funds, and changes he wants to be funded for the Newcastle infrastructure.

He also wants to be able to keep and sign older players when it makes football sense.

This forced delay by Ashley does not augur well and it seems absolutely ludicrous that with just three games to go it’s Rafa who has to chase after Ashley for answers.

Rafa Benitez – will meet with Lee Charnley this week
Wants answers from the owner

The owner is again showing he’s a difficult character to talk to – never mind to negotiate with.

Mike Ashley is a strange character indeed.

Things are starting to look a little sinister on Tyneside and while it would be catastrophic, Ashley may be forcing Rafa out of the club.

It appears from the outside he is not willing to change his rules of the game as far as transfers go and not recruiting older players.

And Lee Charnley’s press conference on the financial results last week didn’t help one little bit.

All the talk was on keeping tight fiscal control of the club in all areas.

But that’s a policy that has yielded two relegations and only once in 12 years have Newcastle finished above 10th place in the Premier League – in 2012 when we were 5th.

That’s the only time we have qualified for Europe in Ashley’s long and tedious tenure of the club.

It’s getting to be an unreal and unwanted situation at Newcastle that has again has been solely created by the ower.

While we don’t think Rafa will leave the club you cannot accuse Mike Ashley of treating the manager with any kind of respect or business acumen over the last several weeks.

The communication with Ashley seems non-existent and that’s very dangerous.

Comments welcome.

    Jib,
We became safe when we beat Leicester, talks could have been going on before that easily and an announcement when we were “mathematically” safe.

    Jib.

It’s clear to anyone that wants to see that, bearing in mind Rafa’s recent comments, Ashley has not been in communication with the manager.

count – this is not an attack but simply pointing out that the name at the top says ‘Ed Harrison’s Newcastle United Blog’ and so he is giving his opinion on the current situation – I don’t see what is ridiculous about that?

    How is it Jib,
Do you think it normal practice to not plan for the future at all, for the owner to ignore the manager “until we’re safe” do you honestly think that given the managers comments over the last few weeks he was wanting to wait until last Sunday, or longer to hear from the club.

Jail for Ashley, i agree with a lot of your comments, we all know Ashley is never going to change, he has zero ambition for Newcastle apart from finishing in the premier league and if it means one place above relegation in 17th position he is happy, rafa is a total professional, a world class manager, he can see the massive potential of Newcastle United, and with just a little bit of help from Ashley he knows he can take Newcastle to the next level beyond doubt, but we all know its never going to happen under that prick Ashley. Could this just be more BOLLOCKS stirred up by SMB’s knowing that they may soon be sitting down in the THIRD division for another year ?
OR Could this really be Fat Lad trying to pull a fast one to see if Rafa really will go ?

    Either one involves F##king ar###oles ( NOT RAFA )

Who knows but one thing is for sure we will find out before 1st July

Don’t believe anything until the Fat Lad sings. Then let him have it ! LOL
