Rafa Could Play Strongest Side At Brighton – Good News On Injuries

It’s unfortunate that Miguel Almiron is out for three weeks with a slight hamstring problem, but that means he will not be available again for us this season.

But he will be able to play for  Paraguay in the Copa America tournament to take place in Brazil from 14th June through 7th July.

And Rafa had some good news today as training started up again for the game at Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

Fabian Schar – back in training

Both Fabian Schar and Isaac Hayden, who were taken off in the second half against Southampton with slight injuries, are back in training today.

The two in-form players will almost certainly start at Brighton in the late Saturday kickoff game since Rafa wants as many points as possible to finish as high up the table as possible.

It also means we get some decent money again from the Premier League if we can finish just below half-way in the league table.

Here are the current standings.

PosTeamGamesGDPoints
10West Ham38-352
11Watford38-750
12Crystal Palace38-249
13Newcastle38-645
14Bournemouth38-1445
15Burnley38-2240
16Southampton38-2039
17Brighton38-2536
18Cardiff38-3534
19Fulham38-3726
20Huddersfield38-5416

Brighton are in a poor run of form at the moment and haven’t scored a goal in their last seven Premier League games.

They have picked up only a single point with a  0-0 draw at Wolves last Saturday but were beaten last night 1-0 at Tottenham with the goal coming with just two minutes to play.

Let’s hope we can get our 12th win of the season on the south coast on Saturday.

That will equal the number of wins for last season and also the number of points – 44.

Comments welcome.

Oh theres a surprise ANOTHER TRANSFER involving Carr, Charnley and Ashley being investigated……

Maybe that’s why they don’t want to do Rafa’s blueprint as signing players the old way means they all get little kick backs?

The fact that Rafa said he’s waiting for answers doesn’t mean he’s not had conversations about his future. Perhaps the discussions Rafa’s had with Ashley and/ or his minions have been so confidential that even Rafa’s not been aware of them!

Police raid at Anderlecht offices and Belgian FA today in money-laundering investigation (around agents).

Apparently one of the investigated transfers: Aleksandar Mitrovic from Anderlecht to Newcastle in 2015.

Police sources told Belgian media that the case included investigations into Mitrovic’s move to Newcastle in the summer of 2015 for £13million. The Premier League club has yet to comment on the investigation but Brussels-based Anderlecht say they are fully cooperating. There is no suggestion of any suspicion surrounding the activities of Mitrovic or Newcastle.

Must have heard it wrong. It was just a quick statement. Then they didn’t comment on it during the programme. So it’s got nothing to do with Newcastle.?

What really needs to happen for Rafa to be successful is basically to allow Charnley to sign the cheques without having to go through Barnes to get to Ashley and then back and forth……

If only Ashley would trust a proper Director of Football that can marry financials and football together to basically be able to make the decisions for him!

To get some great players for cheap you have to act quickly and to be able to offer the best conditions whereas you feel when chairman’s hear that Newcastle are on the phone about a certain player they get a chill up their spine!

Jail, what’s going on with Fulham? Have NUFC fans been buying tickets in the home sections and are these the ones being cancelled, or is it tickets in the away section which are being cancelled?

If the latter, it’s a shocker, one which the FSF should be getting all over.

    Yep, I’ve done some reading.

It’s tickets in the so-called ‘neutral’ section, bought via Fulham and for seats they essentially flog to whoever they think are more likely to buy.

The hardcore away fans will all buy tickets from NUFC via their loyalty points, so a lot of those sold will presumably be to fans from elsewhere in the country who don’t travel to every corner of the Earth to support their team.

As such, what difference will cancelling tickets bought from North East postcodes actually make? Sure, it will mean that a good chunk of North-East based Toon fans are out of pocket and Royally shafted, but the vast majority of that space is going to be occupied by Toon fans from other areas.

If it’s a safety measure, it’s misguided as it won’t achieve anything. In fact, it will put the stewards in direct conflict with thousands of pissed up Geordies as Fulham have said that any fans found outside the official away section will be ejected – how are the stewards going to achieve that?

Presumably they’ve been flogging these tickets to away fans all season, with no trouble at all. Why is it that they’ve suddenly decided that our fans will be rowdy or cause bother? Everywhere we’ve been this season we’ve behaved impeccably, sung our hearts out and been praised for our attitude. Weird, strange decision, based on nonsense and prejudice.

I can’t get over how many so called managers want to take Rafa’s place should he leave.
    FFS man.
The bloke hasn’t said he is going. Only that his contract hasn’t been agreed as Fat Lad has done his disappearing act again while moving his wedge. There’s nowt like trying to fill someone’s job while they’re still working VERY successfully.

Who the f##k knows for sure that Rafa is going ?
    Even Rafa doesn’t know !
I don’t think many or any true Geordie’s want him to go.
He is just trying to get Fat Lad to part with some of his wedge ( The bit that the club should get )

Naturally the likes of Dyche would jump at the chance to fill Rafa’s spot.

Whoever is starting all this shit , Let Rafa do what he does best , His job

    SORRY RANT OVER !!

MA knows his views, Rafa knows his own views, which are about as opposite as black v white. MA is the owner, the club is his, Rafa is hired help. MA has absolutely no need whatsoever to compromise; Rafa will have to compromise LOTS if there is to be agreement. I don’t think for a moment Rafa is desperate enough to stay on MA’s terms, so unless there is a sale ( o joyous day!) Rafa goes. What a crying shame.

Typical minor London club attitude. You would think that fans could sue for their losses in the Small Claims Court due to breach of contract but no doubt there is some small print that gets Fulham off the hook.
    So what to do next.
Well ring your mate who lives outside a NE or DH Post Code and get him or her to order tickets for the Neutral Zone and post them to you. Or try a Mackem Post Code and get barred for life from all Premier League games – oh wait, they’re not in that League are they ?
