Newcastle Linked With Talented Premier League Striker

There’s a report out by Football Insider in what they are calling an exclusive that Newcastle are interested in signing Danny Welbeck to the club this summer.

If Rafa stays, he will try to significantly strengthen the side so at the very least we are not fighting relegation for the third time running next season.

A source said to be close to Danny Welbeck claims that Newcastle are ‘battling hard’ to beat try to beat Everton and other clubs who will be trying to sign Welbeck.

Danny Welbeck – in action for Arsenal

His contract runs out at Arsenal in June, and the 28-year-old former Manchester United striker will be a free agent in the summer.

The report says that Newcastle are interested in the striker whether or not Rafa Benitez agrees to stay on at the club.

Welbeck does pick up a lot of injuries and has been out since November with a broken ankle.

But it does seem that he’s fit again and could even appear for the Arsenal first team again this season.

Welbeck is just the kind of experienced Premier League striker Newcastle need, but his wages will be high and maybe owner Mike Ashley will back-off the deal because of that?

He has played 126 times with 32 goals for Arsenal and while at the Red Devils he played 143 times with 29 goals.

He joined Manchester United as an 8-year-old in 2001 and came through their Youth Academy.

He has played for all the England Youth sides and has 42 full caps with 16 goals for his country.

Unless of course Ashley caves in to Rafas demands and pays him 120K a week.

Too injury prone – we can’t afford to have strikers missing for half a season. Imagine where we’d be if Rondon had been out for as long?

If we were going for injury prone I’d prefer andy carroll. I expect neither to happen.

Right now the only thing that matters is rafa signs. Anything else means we carry on being stitched up by Ashley

I would happily take welbeck and Carroll although welbeck with rondon and perez would work also

Not for me. And he wouldn’t be in the unctuous one’s age preference.
