Rafa Benitez has just announced his team for the game at the Amex Stadium this afternoon against Brighton & Hove Albion in the late kickoff game.
A win in this game will see us equal our points total of last season, which was 44 points.
From last Saturday both Jamaal Lascelles (slight stomach problem) and Miguel Almiron (out for the season with a slight hamstring injury) are not available for this game.
Rafa has shocked us a little bit with Jonjo Shelvey coming in for Ki in central midfielder to partner the in-form Isaac Hayden.
Jonjo Shelvey – given a rare start at Brighton
It’s Jonjo’s first start since last November.

— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) April 27, 2019
As expected Fernandez comes in for captain Jamaal Lascelles and Atsu comes in for Almiron.
About 13 in 20 fans think we can win this game this afternoon against the 4th bottom side.
After 79 minutes Fulham have just gone ahead via a Ryan Babel goal to lead Cardiff City 1-0 – Brighton fans will be interested in that score.

Comment #4Suppose Ki can’t complain, was poor last week. Shelvey needs a good game to reassert himself, though I think he could be leaving anyway.
Would rather have seen Muto than Atsu to the end of the season.
With West Spam winning looks like we’re fighting for 12th at best now.

Reading between the lines listening to why Rafa is saying easily tells me that it’s make or break time for Rafa.. no waiting to see how it goes with promises for next season.
I will wave Rafa off with the thought that he has exposed Ashley for using the club as a money machine to line his own pockets with money circumvented from merchandising and advertising and Tv money siphoned off down the corridors of creative accountancy .
Rafa will show the nation that he leaves because the owner has no ambition for the Football club
It looks like adios Rafa..hope I’m wrong.

I’ll try to turn down the charm a bit mate. Can’t be having jealousy on the blog. Off out to a bar now to watch the match. Shorts, teeshirts and sunglasses here again. Normal service has been restored.

Comment #21Olg nobody has been categorically nail Ashley for creative accountancy. He is known as a tight owner, but not a cheat. Not to the footballing public and media at large.

Comment #23Glad Cardiff are losing. Not sure it has any real impact on Brighton’s psyche, they know they need a win regardless.
I would never want Warnock to prosper at the expense of Hoots either. Absolute c*** of a man. Perhaps the manager, of those I know, which I hate the most. Sooner ignoramuses like him retire the better.
