Newcastle Have More Points Than At This Stage Last Season

We were not happy with only a draw yesterday at Brighton after we had dominated the first half but only had an Ayoze Perez goal to show for it.

But the second half was completely different with Brighton coming back into the game and after 75 minutes they equalized with their first goal in eight games.

We suppose we should be glad of the point because Glenn Murray missed a sitter in stoppage time which could have seen us lose the game  2-1.

That’s the score last year at this time when we played at Watford in the 35th game of the season.

Ayoze Perez scored our goal in the second half after we were 2-0 down at the break and Troy Deeney had been sent off after 39 minutes.

Ayoze Perez after scoring yesterday

We were in a  slump at the time and that was our third successive defeat after we had secured safety and 41 points through winning four games on the trot.

So as we stand today, with two games to play against Liverpool and Fulham – we have one more point than last year and a slightly better goal difference.

Three straight wins for Fulham against Cardiff, Bournemouth and Everton. Could be an interesting finale.

Yes and Kenedy missed a sitter, for us, near the end of the game. I have to say I feel disappointed at his lack of progress after he played so well in the second part of last season!

Who cares much much points we had this time last season. Every season comes with different challenges – new managers, players, fixture layout etc. Important aspect’s should be how much has the team improved in terms of playing style, player improvements, budget etc

Apparently Rafa wanted Muto to arrive in January last year, in order to acclimatise to the PL and be ready to go for this season. However, this does not resolve the issue about if he was a Rafa or club signing, but the manager does have a right to refuse.
