Rafa Benitez has just announced his team for the game tonight at home to Liverpool.
As expected Jamaal Lascelles is back to lead the team and Ayoze Perez takes his place up front.

Jamaal Lascelles – returns to the side
This is one of the few times we’ve got the starting team right as we thought Ki would be preferred to Jonjo Shelvy tonight.
Fans are divided on the possible result of this game.

Howay the Lads!!

Diame on the bench as well which means he can’t trigger one-year extension. Looks like he will be leaving #nufc

Comment #5Looks like Diame is officially done at the club. This is the type of game you would expect Benitez to play Diame alongside Hayden—Diame must be close to the apps required for a contract extension.

Comment #7I wonder if the club will offer Diame a 1 year deal anyway, just not on the wages he could have expected with a 1 year extension… seems like a Lee Charnley move.

Comment #8Ex player and the dirty mackem to score?
Shudders..
Just hoping we don’t get tonked (sat with the in laws, otherwise known as Liverpool supporters today) the enemy.
Father in law keeps asking if I’d want them to win if it meant them winning the title.
Fcuk no! Not in a million years.
Please let us win (firstly because I always want us to win no matter what) but so I can rub my lads face in it lol.

Comment #11Barcelona 16/5 to beat Celta Vigo tonight. The Bookies must be feeling generous; even a weakened Barcelona side is a formidable team.

Not just the death knell for Diame’s #nufc career – think it probably is the end for Shelvey today. He’ll be devastated he’s not involved in a big game.

Comment #15Carragher, one of the few pundits that actually talk any sense. Usually tries to be balanced and not drivel on like a toothless tramp crawling towards a half drunk bottle of Broon lying on the ground in the Bigmarket

OptaJoe
58% – Of all Premier League players with at least 15 goals in the competition, only David Ginola (67%) and Laurent Robert (65%) have scored a higher percentage of their goals from outside the box than Andros Townsend (11/19 – 58%). Rifled.

Comment #20Going to revise my 0 -3 prediction to a 2 -1 win for the Toon.
Whilst I like Klopp – Liverpool and their supporters are scumbags and shyte.
Would be nice to finish their title ambitions tonight.

Comment #23Well as good a line up as we could put out today. Shame Almiron is out, this game would have been tailor made for him. Looks like Diame’s career with us ends this season. Shame as he’s a good player to have as back up.

Comment #28Doesn’t look good for Shelvey tonight he doesn’t have the engine to play against that midfield 3 of Liverpool at the moment not 100% sure KI has either but hes at least a bit more mobile than Shelvey!
Just wish we had Longstaff and Almiron fit to play and could go at them with full strength!!

Comment #30As much as I like Shelvy, I see him working best in a 442, his undoubted talents don’t seem to mesh with the system Rafa is using just now.

Comment #34Some seem determined to have shelvey sidelined and marginalised but it might simply be a case of not being right for this game, at least not until we see if we can contain Liverpool.
