Who Was Newcastle’s Man Of The Match Against Liverpool?

It was a disappointing result yesterday but the performance from Newcastle was excellent in our final home game of the season.

We lost 3-2 and we let in a couple of headed goals that we could and should have done better with.

Our goalscorers were Atsu with his first goal for Newcastle since late 2017 and Salomon Rondon who got back on the goals trail.

Coaches on the line yesterday

We needed a win though.

    The late free kick decision.
    Watched Goals On Sunday.
They said there was contact and he was entitled to go down. Well, yes there was contact I think.
Ritchies toe touched the back of his heel. Was it enough to cause both his legs to shoot out in front of him.
    Clearly not.
If Liverpool players feel a contact they go down. The refs and linos are forced to make a decision and more often that not they get it.

This is the issue I have though. If Perez, Almiron do it they more often than not don’t get it.
Over the course of a game that’s a hell of an advantage.
Over a season how many points is it.

I am convinced there is an agenda that Liverpool should win the title.
The only thing to go our way this season. The iffy penna we got late on against City.
Said on here weeks ago that was for Liverpool. Not us.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying it’s an intentional conspiracy. Just very clever lobbying and hype for them. This causes a sub-conscious bias.

Great effort by the lads last night. As others have pointed out their three goals were down to poor defending but we responded fantastically and even took it to them.

I think Perez has been excellent second half of the season. He had many poor moments early in the season, mainly decision making and playing soft, but always worked hard in defense and to win the ball back.

I recall a moment after the end of the first fixture against City at the Etihad (we lost) when the cameras captured Pep Guardiola speaking to Ayoze with his arm around him. I think this also gave Perez a boost of confidence. Pep is a legend for this generation of players and any words of encouragement and support from him would be highly appreciated by Perez and help him to push on.

Perez’ most underrated attribute is his heading ability. Probably because he’s not your typical target man, but he’s scored 6 or 7 fantastic headers since he’s been here and he rarely gets a chance from them due to his relatively slight stature, but when he gets the run on a defender he’s technically top draw with his headed finishes just like he can be with his feet.

Honestly think some have poor memories and forget the quality goals he’s scored in the past.

One of the best near post first-time finishers I’ve seen too.

Always had the touch, technique, grit, movement – especially in the box, defensive smarts (a generally underappreciated attribute for a forward) and finishing ability.

He’s slowly got stronger with age, Rafa has helped him with getting his head up and pass selection/execution. The system and players around him have done the rest.

Keeping Rafa and Rondon are essential for him to establish this level though. Think if they sign he will.

I want Leeds or Derby to make a return out of those in the play-offs. What about others?

Think Leeds add something to the league as a whole and would be interesting to see Lampard at PL level so early in his career. Villa will never have my good will and need West Brom to stay down.

Hfa Perez has an average game yesterday though
He needs to be more consistent if he is to realise his full potential as a £40m+ striker

Some good analysis of perez. Whoever said it, I didn’t say he was player of the season. But his overall season has been really good and he is a, super player. Hilariously, I have criticised rafa in the past for defensive performances against poor teams, but I am seen by the less intelligent forumites as a rafa hater. Ha! Yet, you disagree with rafa totally about a player he clearly loves. Perez has brilliant stats and could easily play at champions league level. Obviously helped by rondon etc but still a really good season goals wise, fitness wise etc. Top drawer. Sorry the haters have been proved wrong.

Love Perez but he wasn’t good in the first part of the last two seasons. He’s stronger now and better players around him. Raffa agreed and had him on the bench for a few games.

Good performance last night, grafted again but poor lapses cost us, feel we will need 15-20 big decisions in our favour at Fulham to allow ” it evens itself out over the season” to be close to true. Enjoy the blog for the next week or so before it becomes riddled with rumours of trillions of potential signing 😉

Munster he’s a lovely lad who’s getting better and better. But he definitely split opinions. Yes Raffa loves him as well. But definitely took him out for a few matches when he was getting abuse. Which in my opinion did him good.

People easily forget in the first half of the season, Perez actually created a good few clear chances for others. When he was playing as a 10 that’s what you needed. It’s not his fault they weren’t put away and then forgotten about, I remember these as I made a point of posting it on here, even linked a video on here of all his passing first half of the season.

Complain about losing the ball if you want but back then when he was the only creative influence, he has to try and create openings. He’s not a world class player and it’s not going to come off so just whining about misplaced passes is like complaining that Joselu hasn’t scored 20 goals a season.

Well up at 4 am to watch
Was proud of the lads .
Had we had almeron out there he would have terrified them ..next years lads
As for Liverpool …Var cannot come quick enough to see how many points this bunch of cheating twats drop next year as dives will have to be looked at .
Upto now I was always thinking out of the two I’d rather see them win the title …now I couldn’t think of anything worse.
What a bunch of classless bellends they were .we supported them over the 96 as did most and clapped as salah was taken off .
Then you start reading the various blogs of what was going on last night .
Can’t wait to see them after next weekend knowing once again they have bottled the lot
Don’t get the media love in with them from bbc /sky
Come on citeh and hope barca wipe the floor with them in there own backyard .best comment on the mag was referring to one Liverpool rant about how they out sang us in the stadium …how would we know ? only sheepdogs are capable of hearing their squeaky scouce voices.:)

Ron he was getting dogs abuse. He wasn’t playing well. He’s always had it in him to be a very good player. But just turns up the second part of the season. Put it this way he was very frustrating. So you agree the the fans who think he’s played well all season. Well that’s ok. I’m with the ones thought he should be playing better be stronger. He wasn’t putting his fingers in his ears for nothing. Great he’s playing fantastic now let’s hope he doesn’t revert back to type next season if he’s still here.

    One fine day

The media love in with the scouse occurs because of the proliferation of scousers working within the media..journos and that Ilk.. besides if you say anything against them the Supporters attack you en masse.

Recently Alan Shearer had death threats for telling the truth on Match of the day

Recently they could have killed any of the man city players when they bricked the coach arriving at Anfield, totally destroying the coach , a right off .

No trouble or fights in St James Park for 25 years ..Last night they had tickets in home supporters ends ..fights breaking out as they fought with innocent people.

Steven Gérard when his proposed transfer to Chelsea was mooted received death threats and the threat to burn down his relations houses and his .

    They are absolute Scum .

Andre Mariner needs investigated to see if there is any corruption afoot .

MOTD ..not studying the dive that leads to their goal ..I won’t say winner because they didn’t win the game by fair means, just foul means and cheating, shows bias and corrupt producers and presenters at the BBC .

    Don’t mention Hysel either .

The next tragedy for Liverpool and their victims is just around the corner.

I watched on at the end of Barcelona V Man Utd and OGS meet up with Messi ..OGS was in awe of Messi and you could see he was out of his comfort zone talking to him ..looked like a little lost sheep .

OGS talks a good game but he’s not manager ..fantastic mistake hiring him as manager and giving him a 3 year contract as Alex Ferguson hangs around the club like a bad smell and influences policy .

The big problem though is Paul Pogba ..a cancer in the club .

He got rid of Jose by his attitude and the player power that ensued and was heard to have said ” He fked with the wrong Baller”

What has football come to with players with that mind set ?

    Fair play ?
