How Newcastle Compare To Last Season – It’s Close

Newcastle had just come off our fourth loss in a row when we lost 1-0 at Tottenham to a Harry Kane goal in our penultimate game of the season last year.

After winning four games in a row we lost four games in a row, but we were safe,

It’s not too unlike this season.

We did finish 10th last season on 44 points, and if we beat Fulham on Saturday, we can get to 45 points.

But the best we can in the league is a 13th place finish – if we win on Saturday and Bournemouth lose at Crystal Palace.

But we can say the points are more important than the place and claim victory?

Given few other legitimate options – yes – we can do that.

🙂

We do think we will be close to the ÂŁ123M we got last year from the Premier League becasue outside the top six clubs, Newcastle are the most televised club this season, and we get money for that.

You could see on Saturday why Newcastle are a favorite team for TV  to cover  – Rafa’s performance on the touchline line itself – is well worth the admission price!

He’s the consummate professional and perfectionist.

We can only hope for the win next Saturday and get to 45 points – that would be satisfying – after another tough season.

But then what happens next?

Where’s Mike Ashley?

Comments welcome.

I wonder what he’d be like in the Champo, I’m sure Stoke would have found out had Rafa been given a decent budget.

Joselu could be a nailed on purchase for the Mackems to help them to try to escape Division One again next season which is possible or to help them avoid sliding down to Division Two.

The fact that we’ll end up in a lower position with more points than we managed last season says a lot; the difference between the top 6, then the next 6 and the rest is huge.
Sadly we’re still one of the worst 8 in the League.

If Rafa wasn’t her we’d be in the worst 4.

lochinver – that’s not a bad call, but they’re going bust, if they don’t get up through the play-offs they’ll be dead next year.

I have no desire for that happening, just like I didn’t like Notts County, our fellow Magpies and a founder member of the League being relegated on Saturday.
