Ayoze Perez wants Newcastle to get back to their winning ways – we have one point from the last two games – and the Spaniard is determined to beat relegated Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday in our final game of the season.
That would give us 45 points – one more point than last year.
It’s been another really tough season for fans to follow the club, with a terrible start of three draws in the first 10 games and seven defeats.
We are all hoping that Rafa will stay on and be supported by absent owner Mike Ashley – but that’s not certain.
The best we can finish in the league is 13th but we still feel the money we get from the Premier League could be close to the £123M we got last year – but we shall see.
Rafa Benitez bringing the best out of Ayoze Perez
Ayoze has been playing out of his skin for us this year and Rafa’s found the way of how to get the best out of his compatriot.
Here’s what Ayoze has said today as reported in the Chronicle:
“We can still get more points than last season.” “It’s the last game and it has been a tough season.”
“We have to be proud of what we have done.” “Now we must make the last effort.”
“It was a great effort and we fought well as a team (last Saturday).” “But we should have taken something.”
“That is the feeling from the dressing room because we wanted to get points.” “We had one point in our hands.”
“They scored their goals from set-pieces and that is the reality, we should be ashamed of that.”
“A team like Liverpool had to settle for that and that’s how they won, so we have to be stronger.”
“It is a shame we could not get anything.”
We hope Ayoze will be with is next season but it’s difficult to know what the summer will even look like until the Newcastle hierarchy get off their behinds and start doing their job.
They need to sign Rafa to at least a new three years deal

Comment #1It says a great deal about this squad that they are now starting to believe we are not just capable of, but entitled to expect taking points off the very best teams in the League.
This confidence and belief needs to be taken through the Summer into the next season.
