Report – Newcastle Now After Koln Talisman

There was a report on the Transfermarkt website claiming that Newcastle are interested in FC Koln attacking midfielder Dominick Drexler.

Drexler has had an outstanding season for the Bundesliga 2 side.

Drexler just joined the relegated Koln club from FC Midtjylland in the summer for a fee of around £4M.

The German’s performances this season have propelled Koln back into the Bundesliga.

He’s scored 11 goals in all competitions but what’s really impressive is his 20 assists.  So that’s a hand in 31 goals in 34 total games.

Dominick Drexler – Koln’s goal making sensation

While it is the second tier of German football, these stats are nothing to scoff at.  He is a very versatile attacker.

Naturally right-footed, he can play on either wing or through the middle.   Though by the end of October he was exclusively played centrally.  From that point on is when he found his best form judging by his stats.

While newly promoted Koln will not want to lose their prised attacker, the report says that Newcastle and another unnamed Premier League side are looking at him.

We are not sure that there is much to this report to be honest.

The player will turn 29 later this month and we all know how Mike Ashley is loathe to buy a player he will not be able to sell for profit.

It will be interesting to see if this link is consistent through the summer.  He may be a decent shout as cover with his versatility but we doubt he would be anything more than that.

Martoon from previous – defending Munsters behaviour is a tall order. Many a true word they say – it seems the enamel stripping solvent got to him more than usual lately and his innermost Munster came to the fore in the guise of baiting toon22. Wrong on many levels. It actually clarifies his actual sentiments and especially his barely hidden anti-manager sentiment. He’s holding out for Mike coming good and delivering success despite the fans and those troublesome money-craving managers. It’s a real long shot that one but Munsters obviously a dyed in the wool horse bolter. 🙂

Man Utd close to signing Daniel James by the looks of things. 🙁

This has a Rafa purchase all over it. Low cost, obscure, German 2nd Div. Rafa’s probably been scouting him since he was 12 and just needs the chubby one to sign off on it.

    We’ll see.

Another well written piece from Neil, here, too.

Jib, as someone who has had his own pretty robust head-clanging sessions with Munster in the past, it seems your comradeship is galvanised by your common love of fat billionaires 😉

Oh yes, Man Utd close to signing Daniel James by the looks of things – as Ashley pi$$es Rafa about.

What is it Rafa’s looking for – to act quicker in the transfer market?

    Pffft.

On Perez, look he’s been very good lately and the personnel adjustments around him in the team have freed up space for him and given him much needed room to use his trickery better. However, I remember not long ago he got pelters and I’d say the majority of fans wished we could get better.

I tired of the fingers in ears thing left my ago and he should show a bit more respect than still pull that one even if it’s not supposedly directed at the fans.

I’m not convinced a downturn in form is more than a game or two away do if we can get good money and invest in better Id happily wish him well and thanks for the good times, few in comparison that they were. Any player who suddenly becomes good after years then wants to leave, should.

He’s more likely to go on another holiday before acting quick in the transfer market.

Boo hoo…..poor billionaire loses his sweetie money in his gamble to buzzard down on an ailing shop chain on the cheap. It seems some would rather die than be “rescued” by Ashley 😀

I don’t see any disrespect with Perez celebration. Personally only see it as those who don’t like it as the boo boys and haters.

Ronaldo that’s as maybe but as you know you don’t have to spend many games at SJP to know the boo boys are always there. Unfortunately for every ten decent knowledgeable Dan’s there’s a complete plank who boos every wrong touch. Perez should know this he’s been here long enough. Even if he doesn’t mean it, it still gives off a disrespectful attitude to everyone not just the chumps imho. He should just accept the plaudits gracefully while he gets them – after all it could be said he should be grateful to the doubters for motivating him to do better. And you never know, he might need to use those fingers in his ears while he’s actually playing, if his old form returns 😉

Yeah, the Perez celebration was always fine with me, too. It was directed at people who had shown no respect to him and at the media.

After he’d done it a few times, though, it was just his celebration. You may as well pick fault with Shearer wheeling away with one arm raised or Tino turning somersaults, it means as much as that now.

I notice that Minster is conspicuous by his absence this morning. He may well be busy which would excuse it , but it seems to me that he was indeed stimulated by something ( legal or otherwise) yesterday evening to allow his true feelings to cascade out on to a blog full of mainly genuine NUFC supporters. How he could possibly align himself with Ashley’s despicable money grabbing antics and then try and conveniently dismiss it as a wind up is beyond me.
