Sunderland Scrape Through To Victory In First Leg Of Play-Off Tie

Sunderland managed to win 1-0 at the Stadium of Light tonight against Portsmouth – in the first leg of their playoff tie with the south coast side.

The winning goal came after  62 minutes when Chris Maguire’s volleyed the ball home.

That was Maguire’s 9th goal of the season, but just 5 minutes later Sunderland were reduced to 10 men when Ozturk was sent off.

It was a straight red card for the Sunderland player.

Chris Maguire – brilliantly fires home the winner after 62 minutes

But it wasn’t smooth sailing for the Black Cats, but they managed to hold on valiantly to their 1-0 lead for the final 20 minutes or so with Maguire hitting the post.

The second leg will be played at Fratton Park on Thursday night with a KO time of 7:45 pm.

A draw in that game will be enough to see Sunderland through to the final at Wembley.

Salford promoted to League two in successive seasons since their takeover, I wonder, with the investment their owners could attract whether they’ll go all the way to the PL, 5K crowds, Bournemouth have done it with 11K, the way Man U are going they’ll probably get a load of plastic reds of the Fergie era going to support them, it’ll be rich ‘earing saam one from Essex saying ‘ees supawted ’em awl ‘is life!

Geordietom creases me up with his CAPITALS and LMFAO at absolutely everything.

The best reveal ever on here was when he was bragging that his missus was such an avid supporter she had a BLOCK CAPITAL ‘NUFC’ tramp stamp!

    Stay classy GT! PMSL!

A bit quiet on here tonight, eerily so. I thought job would be cranking up on the fibreglass releasing fluid now and grinding the night shift down with his stories –

” I remember when I was a young lad of 65 sneaked in the back door of the hexagon in Reading to catch the Barron Knights warming up for the Wurzels. By the time “Combine Harvester” was ringing out on the banjos me and Lucky Lucan were wasted on the brandy and babychams, had to walk all the way back to Harrogate and hitched a lift with Richard Branson’s dad didn’t know it then but Mike Oldfield used to pick tateys on his smallholding etc etc….”
