Poll – Who Was Man Of The Match Today In Blistering Magpies’ Performance?

Newcastle showed today that against the lesser teams of the Premier League we can be dominant.

A blistering start form Newcastle at Craven Cottage today saw the lads go 2-0 up after only 11 minutes.

From a training ground routine from a corner, Shelvey controlled the ball beautifully before powering home his first goal of the season and some goal it was.

Then two minutes later an Atsu shot was only blocked by the goalkeeper and there was Ayoze Perez to slot the ball home for his 13th goal of the season and his 12th in the Premier League.

After 61 minutes Schar made it look far too easy from a corner when he headed the ball home unchallenged.

Fabian Schar brilliantly heads home from a corner for Newcastle’s 3rd goal after an hour

And then at the death, Rondon powered his way forward in the inside-left position and his a shot that was blocked and he hit the ball again into the back of the net.

This boy has had some season for us – 12 goals on loan this season and 11 in the Premier League.

We finish in 13th place on 45 points – one more point than last season.

This performance was a clear message from Rafa Benitez to owner Mike Ashley on what he can do at Newcastle if given some financial support.

Ashley bothered to turn up today (game was in London) and he saw a masterful performance from Rafa and the lads.

A great performance from the lads to finish off the season on a high.

This was the 5th season running we have won our final game of the season.

Howay The Lads!!

    MoM and one plonka
slagged him off for not tracking back when he was clearly struggling a bit

Now that final match and press conference obligation is over I would expect Rafa to concentrate on contract situation. and not have to stone wall press before and after matches

Fingers crossed we get good news soon

    From Sky:

Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon has scored 11 goals during his season-long loan from West Brom, becoming a firm fans favourite at St James’ Park.

Rafael Benitez is, understandably, desperate to keep the Venezuelan at St James’ Park next season.

“I will see what he is saying, I talk with him every day,” the Newcastle manager said. “Everybody is really pleased because he has played really well for us, he was a key player in our achievements.

“It’s very easy to say we have to sign him, but still we have to decide what is going on with me. Obviously he has to wait and see what happens with West Bromich Albion so all these things will have to wait a couple of weeks and after that we will know.

“I understand you have to ask and I will say the same to all the fans but we have to wait and in 10 days we will know what’s going on. With me, it’s just common sense because with another manager he might want to change Salomon Randon, so it depends on these things and after you can move forward.”

Well it;s not like he hasn’t done it in the past and at that point it wasn’t clear he was struggling at all.

Precious fairy. We’re allowed to criticise players occasionally that we otherwise like. Sure Rafa and his staff do it plenty.

Rafa said 10 days about his won future a few days ago.

So get Rafa sorted by this time next week then Sal a few days later. I’m sure one of the conditions of the former will be the latter!
