Alan Shearer Makes Plea To Keep Rafa Benitez At Newcastle

Alan Shearer was delighted with the display of the Newcastle United team at Craven Cottage today when we dismantled a relegated Fulham side 4-0.

The commentators on NBC Sports in the US couldn’t quite understand or work out how Newcastle had been so dominant in the game when Fulham had most of the ball – the home side had 68% possession.

They need to watch more game plans devised by Rafa Benitez and how often the opposition is ineffective against Newcastle when they have the ball.

Rafa put on a master-class of coaching in front of the watching Newcastle owner Mike Ashley yesterday, and we haven’t won many PL games 4-0 away under Ashley’s watch over the last twelve rather dismal years.

Rafa Benitez – after the game yesterday
His glasses were already in his pocket

Like any Newcastle die-hard fan, Alan Shearer says Rafa must stay at all costs and expressed his opinions on Match of the Day last night on the BBC :

“I was very happy watching that performance today but they need to sort his future out – they need to keep Rafa at all costs.”

“Wonderful strike from Shelvey gets him off to a great start and then the best three players of the season for Newcastle – Perez, Schar, and Rondon – were all involved in scoring the goals.”

“It was a very good performance.”

“It’s 24 goals between Rondon and Perez now and Perez has had an excellent season.”

“Rondon got the fans’ player of the season and rightly so. Whether they get him – whether they want to pay that money – is a different matter.”

“If it was me I’d do that because he’s been excellent.”

“First and foremost they need to sort out Rafa’s future. They need to keep him.”

Let’s be very clear – Rafa is like a rock star on Tyneside and we want to keep him on as the Newcastle manager for years to come.

Hopefully, Ashley will do some useful this week and sign Mr. Benitez up to a long term improved contract.

That’s what he deserves, and that’s what the fans around the world want.

Over to you Mr. Ashley.

Get almiron in the mix for a full season and our attack is looking much healthier. Oh but 16m for a 30 year is too much in today’s market… apparently.

Don’t listen to any reports from the newspapers about Rafa future yet, I know he is waiting to see if West Brom get beat next week against Villa.
If they do it gives Rafa the tools he needs to talk to Mike Cashley about Ronnie, he cannot really sit down without having that conversion. Come on Villa!!!! ( God that felt weird saying that ).

Just 50,000 page views to go before Ed hits the 200 million mark.

That’s some going, congratulations in advance Dr. Ed, and the very best for the future.

Great way to end the season with a brilliant display from the team and the fans – the Geordie Armada is a sight to behold on twitter. Amazing stuff and shows how we are a different set of supporters to most teams. Rafa understands that. Ashley doesn’t.

For those asking about prediction results – I need to wait until Ed does his player of the season poll!

I see Chris Foy the rugby correspondent for the Daily Mail
was so impressed by SJP as a venue for the 2 rugger Euro
finals – he thinks the RFU should consider it for future England
    internationals.
    Now that would be something!
