“I Am Really Proud” – Some Of The Interesting Things Rafa Said In London Yesterday

Rafa had Newcastle deliver an excellent performance and win in the last game of the season yesterday – and that was for the thirds year running.

We got 45 points, one more than last season but finished 3 places lower in 13th place.

We should get to know very quickly how we did with the Premier League compensation, with the amounts each club gets to be announced quickly.

Let’s hope it’s very close to the ÂŁ123M we got last May.

We are again indebted to Rafa Benitez, his brilliant coaching staff, and our courageous players for keeping us in the Premier League.

But fans and Rafa know that Newcastle United FC can do a lot better than this if only given a chance and the financial backing.

These are some of the interesting comments Mr. Benitez made after the game in London yesterday afternoon.

“It was a great game. The early goal helped us a bit when they were pressing.”

“We had the experience on the counter-attack. The third goal killed the game. Credit to them because they were pushing then.”

“I am really proud of this group of players, and the fans were amazing as well.”

“To finish 13th is important for everyone. It is a good position, and I am really pleased.”

“Now is the time to enjoy and the fans go back happy. I am really proud.”

“This group of players, even in bad times, never had their heads down they were still believing and working hard.

“I am always emotional but more or less inside.”

“At the same time the fans have been like this all season, and I am a professional, and I can give something back like today.”

“We did what we have to do.”

“This group of players from the beginning until the end have worked really hard.”

“We never gave up, even when we were safe in the last three games they were still giving everything.”

“We have one more point than last season but couldn’t finish 10th, so it proves this season has been more difficult than last season.”

“Everything has been positive.”

“He (Mike Ashley) said congratulations and thank you very much for the season.”

“He was congratulating the team.”

“What I can guarantee is that was my last game this season! We will see what happens in the future.”

“Obviously, you know we have a meeting coming soon, and hopefully, we will have more news for everyone.”

“The problem is other teams are spending each year. You have to do everything right.”

“Even if you spend money and have a good team you can lose confidence.”

There is just NO WAY that Rafa Benitez can be allowed to leave Newcastle this summer.

And more than that he needs to be offered a new and improved contract by Mike Ashley and treated with more of the respect he deserves as one of the great football managers in the world today.

There – I’ve said it!

Oh well, Catchpole beat me by seven points in the end, should have had Mane as my captain, he can’t gloat too much considering it was my first season.

Well done Jail – I really thought I had you when I got 80 points but you pipped me by 1 point – I had Aguero as Captain and then at the last minute changed it to Salah – that’s what cost me. I was going to suggest we both donate anyway but you beat me to it 🙂

Well Done to the team and Rafa. Now it’s your turn Mr Ashley. Get it right or lose the lot.
