Newcastle Monitoring French International Midfielder

There have been reports over the past few days claiming that Newcastle have been watching out of favor Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is on loan at AC Milan.

Tiemoue Bakayoko – Could be available this summer

Calcio Mercato are now reporting that AC Milan are unlikely to take up their option to buy the French international. That option is reported to be about £31M.

Bakayoko joined Chelsea in the 2017 summer transfer window from Monaco for £36M. As we recall, he had a rough time at Chelsea. There were games where he just seemed lost and had issues adapting to Antonio Conte’s system.

He did make 24 starts in the Premier League as well as 4 in the Champions League.  Though, after a preseason under new manager Maurizio Sarri, Bakayoko was sent to AC Milan on loan.

The defensive midfielder has fared much better on the pitch in
Serie A. He has been ever-present for AC Milan making over 40 appearances in total.

However as the Calcio Mercato report indicated, he had some personal issues lately in Italy. Though that may have all arisen from him suffering racial abuse.  As an article in Transfermarkt from February shows he was quite happy and hopeful prior to the abuse at Lazio.

Recently he also reportedly had a confrontation with manager Gennaro Gattuso, who we remember as quite the battler himself.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle are really interested in the French midfielder. His career is at a crossroads and he probably will not feature in Sarri’s plans next season at Chelsea.

We believe Rafa and the Geordie fans could definitely get the best out of this player. His current wages are close to £100K per week which could be an issue and we would expect his fee to be in the £20-30M range.

This one is very interesting as he fits the mold at only 24 years old with room to improve. However, his wages and fee could be an issue.

“West Bromwich Albion plan to meet Chris Hughton next week to discuss the possibility of him becoming their manager. Hughton is out of work after surprisingly being sacked by Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday, less than 24 hours after the Premier League season finished, and West Brom have identified the 60-year-old as a leading contender for their vacancy.” (Grauniad)

I’m not sure on this one. He seems to have struggled to settle at a number of clubs and while that may not be his fault entirely out should be something of a red flag. Lots of money for a big risk I think

May be doing him a disservice

On the Jeremy Kyle thing, it’s bordering on the political so I won’t dwell on it too much suffice to say good riddance to trash TV that in equal parts exploits and glorifies the dysfunctional underbelly of society. Rather than parading the endless conveyor belt of individuals who have not been educated sufficiently to run their own lives with an acceptable level of competence, effort should be made to cut out this bug-inspection fascination that makes people think this is actually how mainstream society operates. Go the way of payday loan sharks, “reality” TV I say.

Society needs to stop being tolerant of common incompetence and get to grips with educating people how to be better, not celebrate how bad they can become.

    ***End of rant ***

Jeremy Kyle spent his career shouting at the vulnerable on national television during the darkest times in their lives. Seems a tad unfair that they cancel now without doing a special episode where he at least gets booed a bit for likely contributing to the death of a guest.

Well said Tsunki………. There are however many people uneducated to any sort of reasonable level that can still conduct themselves in a fairly organised manner. There are obviously one or two that can’t mind as this blog often highlights.

    He is Definitely worth it

The player has excellent work ethic and fantastic quality

His only “subpar” season was at Chelsea
Where he didn’t do too badly considering he it was his first season in England and he was up against the likes of kante

40 appearance on loan at Milan and a stellar record at Monaco before that.

    I say snap him up

As a winger Murphy towers over Ritchie creatively
I’d much rather have him back than keep Ritchie who failed to go past a single defender the whole entire season
Also Rafa needs to abandon the 352 formation and switch to 4 at the back
We fared perfectly well with a back four the season before last
If he does that I suspect Ritchie’s first team days would be over

Toonbrother you’re nothing without a doll to stick pins in are you a voodoo enthusiast by any chance? Didn’t go past a single defender all season? I think you are missing the point about his style a bit there, it’s not his thing really. I’m not the greatest Ritchie fan by any means and some games I’ve been frustrated by the abundance of low quality crosses but his work rate, tracking back and his assists can’t really be argued against. Add his motivational and morale impact and this season would have been a lot different without him. Strange obsession you have. It’s probably just a dislike of Argentinians and birth-Scotsmen. I’ll look up a phobia on that see if it exists. 🙂

In the interest of fairness I’m no fan of Jeremy Kyle but I don’t think you can blame him personally for the death of this poor guy. By all accounts Mr Dymond had issues before he came on the show and he and his girlfriend fooled the Doctor into giving him a certificate to say he was mentally sound. So yeah his girlfriend, the doctor and even the show researchers are all culpable but you can’t expect Kyle to checkout everybody himself.

It’s a bit like NUFC and wonga. Quite a surprising amount of fans saw nothing wrong in it. But it was rightly consigned to history as the low life blood sucking predatory “business” it was. Reality TV’s days are probably at their zenith right now but I can see a time when it will not be popular at all.

Looks like Steve Harper leaving the academy was at least in part due to the fact that his son is entering the Academy and he wanted to give him some space. Sounds fair to me.

I wish him all the best, sad to see his involvement with the club end in an official capacity, great that it’s continuing in a different way.

    We’ve had this conversation before
Apart from those players in finals or play-offs
the rest are gone – whoosh on their holidays
No matter how early the window opens apart
from talking to their agents on their devices no
substantial transfer business will be done for weeks.

I said the same last season, Gayle is a very good second/third choice striker that we already have and won’t get better. Knows the system, starting to finally forge a partnership with Perez, running creates space and links perfectly with shelvey. Got the pace to press, run in behind and counter. Yes he missed a few chances in the league but he was starting to find his feet with us towards the end of the premier league season with us.

Just pay the 16m straight up for rondon. It’s not a lot of money in today’s game, even for a 29 year old, soon to be 30 in September.

Pick up that young lad hurtado and who I don’t think would cost a lot.

We are going to need to get cms, wing backs and reinforce the wing/am. So it simply resolving the striking issue with minimal fuss like above will help a lot.

Reports in chronicle after the summer suggested that West Brom were willing to accept less than 16m but we never made a move for a permanent transfer. Who says they won’t accept less than 16m despite it being the release clause.

Pointless anyway, average transfer last summer in the premier league was £18m.

Ed’s blog is a bit like the Jeremy Kyle show – giving a public platform to a wide range of folk, including bona fide Toon fans whose main interest is the football, some uneducated rabble, a variety of complete nutters and one or two boring self appointed pompous popinjays.
The latest show is a dispute is about a tattoo and whether a person is a lady of the night.

I demand the contestants in this spat take lie detector tests to finally resolve the matter.
