Nobby Solano of Peru was a great player for us, and he had a couple of spells with Newcastle.
The first spell was from 1998-2004 when he played for Sir Bobby Robson, and he was brought back in 2005 by Graeme Souness for his second spell.
Over those two spells, he played 290 games for us with 46 goals and 11 assists and played for Peru a whopping 95 times scoring 20 international goals.
He was a very talented player for us and extremely popular with our fans.
Nobby has been interviewed in the Chronicle today, and he has his say on what he believes Rafa wants to hear from owner Mike Ashley.
This what Nobby has told the Chronicle today:
“I believe Rafa will want to know how ambitious they are and how much investment Mike Ashley is prepared to make.”
“The transfer window is open. The talks really should have taken place before now and this should have been done.”
“They have missed out on some targets. They need to push forward quickly.”
“The summertime is a busy period and if you are too slow you know what happens.”
“You also need to think of the fan base and keep them happy.” “The most important thing in Newcastle is football. Mike needs to recognize that.”
“They just want to have a good team.” “Things have been made hard for Rafa. Without it, nothing can move on.”
“Rafa is waiting for the answers.”
Nobby hits the nail on the head with those comments.
Newcastle (make that Mike Ashley) are again moving far too slowly and showing no real urgency simply because the owner doesn’t have Rafa’s massive ambitions for the club, and quite honestly never will.
That’s the sad part about all of this.
🙁
And Rafa will know in his heart of hearts he has an owner who doesn’t care too much about making Newcastle a great club.
Ashley thinks it will cost too much.
Whether Rafa will still sign for us – knowing that – is unclear.
What do you think?

Including accusations of shilldom and multiplism.

Comment #5In the throwing stuff things we are gradually improving. It used to be pies, or ink and occasionally the odd uppercut but a milkshake isn’t far away from a refined chuck. It won’t be long before politicians will wear their best flutes to welcome a good pasting with a Medium rare filet with samphire and shallots and a nice robust fruity Syrah.

Comment #10Wasn’t there a guy threw his shoe at the ex-Pakistani President? Caused a National outcry, apparently it’s the worst insult you can give a Muslim. I think some were demanding the guy’s head.
Last time Ashley threw anything it was the ‘v’s at his loyal, paying public.

Comment #14Farage was too embarassed to tell his wife what had happened when she saw him covered in milk. He told her he had taken a bath in milk for therapeutic reasons. She asked , “Was it pasteurised?”
He replied, “No, only up to my chin.”

Comment #20I think the talks are over and are at stalemate unless Rafa agrees to lessen his demands, we’ll now have no announcement until Rafa leaves when his contract expires.
Club tried all they could to keep him but financial stability means we need to blah blah blah……..

Comment #29We should have a vote on which Swatch colour Jane should have. I always liked a nice tranquil meadow green but a burnt sugar is quite a relaxing tone. I’m not too partial to all these primary colours the kids are down with these days.
