Calciomercato are reporting today that Rafa Benitez has agreed to stay at Newcastle United, with the club willing to back him in the transfer market.
They quote the news from ‘Tuttosport,’ that the former Napoli manager has made a deal with Newcastle to stay on board and take the club forward and back into Europe.
The report says that the English club are now willing to make essential investments in line with the significant ambitions of the Spanish coach.
It seems the aim now of both parties is to have Newcastle back competing in Europe once again as we used to do regularly when Sir Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan were the managers.
But caution as always – this is only a report, and nothing is certain until any agreement reached is announced on the Newcastle United website.
Report – Rafa Benitez has agreed to stay at Newcastle
But this could be the great news, and it’s certainly better than a report that says he’s walking away from Newcastle.
If there has indeed been an agreement, we would expect Newcastle to post the news quickly – if only the basics that Rafa has agreed to stay at Newcastle for whatever the length of his new contract is.
Here’s the basic report in Calciomercato:
“THE SPANISH COACH WILL HAVE AN ADEQUATE BUDGET IN THE MARKET TO RETURN TO EUROPE WITH THE BRITISH”
“According to what was revealed by ‘Tuttosport’, the former Napoli technician would have found an agreement with the Newcastle property regarding the summer market planning.”
“The British in fact seem willing to make important investments in line with the ambitions of the coach.”
“The will of both parties would be to bring the club back to Europe.”
