Martin Dubravka has been a revelation. He has transformed the Newcastle side since joining last January, initially on loan and then permanently this past summer.
His performances have garnered well deserved praise as well as interest from other clubs.
Earlier this year, there were reports that some top clubs were after Dubravka.
One of those clubs reported to be interested was Juventus. Today, Martin Dubravka has made some encouraging comments in conjunction with renewed interest from the Italian giants.
Are Juventus preparing to bid for Martin Dubravka?
Dubravka has expressed his happiness at Newcastle in spite of the interest shown in him.
One of the main reasons cited for his contentment is him playing regularly for the Magpies.
There is news from Italy that may give credence to the reported interest of the Turin based club.
According to Football Italia, Juventus have offered Roma the opportunity to sign Italian international goalkeeper Mattia Perin.
Roma have been offered the chance to sign Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin, according to La Repubblica. Perin could fill the bill for Roma,
Mattia Perin joined Juventus in July for €12.3M from Genoa, the club he had been with since he was sixteen.
Perin was brought in as longtime veteran and Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon departed on a free to join PSG.
Perin was expected to battle ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny for the number one spot.
Szczesny had spent the prior season as Buffon’s back up and was looking to fill the absence left by Buffon.
And Szczesny did just that, having a phenomenal campaign for the title winners.
His form left few opportunities for Perin, who managed only 9 starts before his season ended in April with a shoulder injury.
The news of Perin possibly going to Roma could mean that Juventus will focus on Martin Dubravka as a replacement.
The pull of a club like Juventus will be strong if they do indeed make a move for our Slovakian international.
Dubravka seems very content at the moment, and he is the obvious number one going into next season.
The plight of Perin may also serve as a reminder to Martin that pastures new are not always greener.
We hope and expect that Dubravka will stay at Newcastle, especially if Rafa Benitez signs a new deal.
But a club like Juventus showing interest in Martin is always concerning.

I dont think for one minute he will leave fella, loves it here and if I had to choose a replacement it would be Heaton.
Dubs has grown into our first choice keeper, I was not too sure at first, although he hit the ground running with his debut against Man Utd.
Think the bloke is far better than our other keepers but also it’s a big plus that he loves it here.
Cheers for the craic mate

Comment #44Like I say, I don’t usually bother with player links. 99% of them? – I’d sooner talk about anything else. But you feel free. Just causes meltdowns on here. People end up squabbling over things that have no connection – look at that, point proven. 🙂
So many things yet to happen to even make this relevant – I’ll reserve judgement until it does.

How would you feel if I chucked a milkshake over Mikey outside a restaurant because I don’t like his policies/
As for commenting on the article, the headline was click bait at it’s finest and as for all the other links with players I don’t give them a second glance, until Rafa is signed up the usual speculation becomes even further from the truth.

Comment #48I think Dubravkas biggest weakness is commanding his area, for some reason he just doesn’t seem to hold that complete presence that is needed. Defenders are not listening to him during set pieces OR he is not commanding his area
There is an ineptitude at the defenders level of course. Dubravka, for me, needs to bully our own defence a little bit more.

I agree he does not command his 6 yard box, but I am no keeper so it’s an ‘armchair opinion’. Times I thought he could of come and hasn’t- maybe the Wolves last minute (I still say it was a foul) goal is playing on his mind.
Clean sheet start for him next season, I am very confident we will do well next year mate.

Comment #54If I’m not mistaken, dubravka is one of the best in the league for coming out to claim crosses. It’s like when you are a keeper that plays out from the back, times you will get egg on your face as you mess up but it’s the risk you take.
It’s the times that it goes badly or doesn’t go too well that it sticks in memory.

The general feeling amongst the fans was ,we signed Dubravka because we needed a better keeper than the two that we had.

Why is he Godlike though?
I completely agree that he feels indispensable. He is great.
I used to feel that way about Krul.
After that Palermo game he was my favourite player easily and continued to impress… Easily replaced though.
Haven’t we been here before…
Is Dubravka ndispensable?

I’d say he is at todays over inflated market, how much would Tim Krul cost if you wanted to buy him now, even Neil Etheridge would set you back 15M imo. if we sold Dubravka it just gives Rafa another headache to solve and we don’t need the money.

Comment #75You would think the whole situation just suddenly happened, out of the blue
Its not like the club had any idea when his contract was up,or roughly what he was wanting to sign a new one
They havent even tried to lie about some of the stuff he wants like funding for youth and facilities
It looks to me like they hoped he would quit or simply walk away

If we sold him it would either be against Rafas wishes or with him gone to simply profit from the sale without a care for the team

While Jib often refers to Catalonia, I know that you introduced the light-hearted reference to Catalonia, it sounding poasher than plain old Spain. A bit like Bobby Thompson’s missus letting it be known they were going to Blackpewl for their holiday and flying from Shotting or wherever.
