Report – Newcastle Ready To Sign Rafa To New Deal

There’s a report in the Shields Gazette which has just been released that says that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is ready to sit down with Rafa and “finalize Rafa’s contract.”

Presumably, that means Rafa will soon be signing his new deal to stay at Newcastle.

But in the article, there doesn’t seem anything to back up the claim – unless the local reporters are hearing something behind the scenes that something is about to happen?

Rafa Benitez – report Mike Ashley ready to do the deal?

The talks on Rafa’s contract started last Thursday so this is now the 7th day of talks, with a meeting having taken place last Thursday and communication having continued by email and phone since that time.

The report is upbeat and positive, but we’ll believe it all when the club comes out and issues an official statement that Rafa Benitez has signed a new deal to stay at the Tyneside club.

We hope the report is accurate.

We’d also like the deal to be for five years (at least), but for Rafa to sign a long term deal he needs cast-iron assurances that he will be heavily backed by Mike Ashley in the transfer windows coming up.

Rafa will only stay if he is able to build a top team at Newcastle that can challenge every season for Europe.

And start to win trophies!

Comments welcome.

    Lovem or Hatem,
He’s made a good few, takes the shine somewhat of getting one eventually right.

Let’s hope so @Ed – huge moment in NUFC’s history which could swing either way, this.
There’d be nothing more satisfying that having Rafa tied up this weekend, and let the summer planning begin.

This must be my first comment on here in quite a few years, good to see the discussion section is as active as ever 🙂

True to form Munster praises Ashley for his wonderful contribution to the club’s finances and cricicises Rafa for delaying signing his contract.

All I said was Rafa in 2016 , when thinking
over whether to invoke the relegation clause ,
kept us waiting about 10 days after playing Spurs ,
and will probably do the same this time , after Fulham.

Good Morning ALL! (30 days sober from my hobnob affliction…the struggle is real)

    Hope everyone is well!!…….

If..IF NUFC purchase every player we have been linked with so far…..we would have three quality teams!!! (if it was legal to have that many registered players that is) .

I bet four hobnobs Rafa signs on the 31st of May

MA has in the last 12 years done nothing quickly
    He drags things out
this time its in his interest to drag out the contract negotiations as it runs down the transfer window
Usually he uses the sale lie to do this

Whats the difference this year ?

You think he hasnt got next seasons tv money in his sights again

the only difference to last year is he is using the contract talks with Rafa to run the clock down instead of pretending to sell

    Different lie same result

Sadly reaching the stage where I am past caring.
I know MA is a tosser but I am beginning to wonder if Benitez is mr lilywhite.
So far he doesnt seem to be showing too much concern for us
We are fully aware MA thinks we are cretins.
There really is no need for this zharade and more respect should be shown fans.

Lets be honest we are dealing with Mike Ashley, no one knows anything. Even if Ashley announced anything it cant be believed unless there is written proof. Look at his announcements on sale of club
