The Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle’s scouting team have been watching young Barcelona left-back Marc Cucurella, who has had a good season on loan at Eibar.
The 20-year-old left back is a Spanish U20 International who has played once for the full Barcelona side.
He played 30 games with one goal while on loan last season at Eibar, and he looked an outstanding young player.
He was the best player on the pitch when Eibar beat Real Madrid 3-0 at home in late November last year, and he had a hand in all three goals.
The interesting news is that Eibar have an option to buy him for just €2M this summer.
It’s difficult to believe he’s going to be that cheap given the outstanding season the youngster has just had.

However, Barcelona will likely put in the contract a €4M “buy-back clause” in case he becomes an excellent player and they want him back at Barca.
How’s that for winning whatever happens to the player?
Newcastle could possibly move in but Rafa will not have that 4M buy-back clause in the contract, and that could kill any deal.
Rafa is very wary of improving a player for another clubs benefit, and he will only do that for Newcastle’s benefit.
It would look like the 20-year-old could be a good bargain buy.
But the deal Newcastle would want is probably a loan deal with an option to buy at a specific price next summer with no buy-back clause possible.
Sevilla, Real Betis, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund all have an interest in the impressive youngster.
