We had an article out five days ago that an unnamed club had put in a €7M bid to sign Turkish International midfielder Dorukhan Tokoz, who plays for Turkish powerhouse Besiktas
According to a report from the Daily Sabah earlier this year, his value in the transfer market was rocketing up (at that time in early March it was €3.5M).
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has just completed an outstanding season with Besiktas and with Isaac Hayden and Mo Diame both likely to leave Newcastle this summer, Rafa could bring in the twice-capped Turkish International.
Tokoz seems to have all the attributes of a top holding midfielder as he reads the game and is a good tackler.

He only turned 23 last Tuesday so he is also young and could learn a lot under Rafa Benitez on Tyneside.
21-year-old local lad Sean Longstaff is likely to be the starter in the attacking central midfield position after his fabulous debut season when he was keeping the experienced Mo Diame, Ki, and Jonjo Shelvey out of the side.
However, Besiktas want a lot more than just €7M for him with the latest reports being they value him now at €20M
There are several clubs interested in the player including West Ham, Watford, Genoa, and Atletico Madrid.
He looks a good signing, but €20M may be a bit high for a player who has effectively just emerged on the scene last season.
We’ll trust Rafa’s judgment on this one and if he really wants him, let’s hope Ashley doesn’t stand in his way, as he’s done too many times in the past.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #5We effectively don’t have a manager, Rafa may even be telling Charnley players Newcastle should sign as until 30th June he won’t walk away, clearly Charnley will just ignore it.
In my opinion talks are over with Ashley ignoring Rafas demands and will simply let his contract expire

Comment #6We were exactly the same last Summer’s window, taking forever to get some new players in, but we probably ended up having the best window of all the EPL teams.
The only pity was that they came in too late late to really get up to speed, shirley it won’t happen to be a last minute dash again.

Comment #15In my never-ending search to find billionaires who aren’t interested in buying wor club I’ve come up with a brilliant one. Here he is lads: Chip Wilson! Yes the old Chipster! He founded Lululemon if you’ve been off-planet for a few years so the club could get it’s yoga gear on a deep discount. I will contact Chip and see if he’s changed his mind aboot buying us. Stay tuned.

Comment #29That’s not exactly new. We’ve known Rafa wants control of the transfer budget for months if not years by now. It’s what kind of compromise can be made that will be acceptable to both parties…..

Comment #30I would prefer we were owned by Emily Magda Rothschild Freeman-Attwood. She knows a lot more about footy (i.e. almost nothing) than Mike does.
