Newcastle United Tweet Support For Former Player

Newcastle United’s official Twitter account has given a bit of a subtle poke to our local rivals today. They, of course, have done so with a bit of class as well.

Lee Bowyer– when playing for Newcastle United

Newcastle United have tweeted out congratulations to our former midfielder Lee Bowyer after he has guided Charlton to the Championship with a thrilling win today at Wembley over Sunderland.

This is a tremendous accomplishment for Lee who only became the permanent manager in September and is actually out of contract with the club this summer.

We’re pretty certain Charlton Athletic will be eager to sign Lee to another contract after this great success.

Bowyer played for the Magpies from 2003 to 2006 and made 107 appearances for the club. While he may mostly be remembered for that unfortunate incident, we remember him as a player of determination and passion who was a quality midfielder on his day.

Lee seems to have been able to channel his fire and use it to inspire his players. We hope to see him do well in what looks to be a bright future as a manager.

Well done to Lee and Charlton Athletic.

It’s fairly obvious that we have different views on the state of our club, I enjoy the banter that we have and I’m happy to Continue with it.

So I go to sleep for a few hours and all hell breaks loose.

So I’ve emailed Midhat Kidwai the MD of Bin Zayed whose team me and another (non blog member) met last September.

I’ll give one of his team members a call in a bit.

    Fingers crossed.

beermonkey, I have no idea whether it has legs, will try to find out, as stated me and another met with them last September we then tried to kick start things in March ’19 when the Liverpool bid was on the table (only via email and whatsapp), we did get a reply saying (paraphrasing here) “thanks for the heads up” after that we’ve not heard anything.

    lesh, love it!

Always nice to wake up to a bit of drama. Will definitely take it with a pinch of salt but still gives us something to get excited about.
I just hope its not a pr plot to cover up Rafa’s contract not being signed. I’ll keep my eye on any local news here in Dubai as I’m sure Micky will

I keep instinctively misreading his name as Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan, Sheik Mansour’s “half wit” half brother. So, you know, I’m keeping my feet firmly on the ground for the time being.

BBC is reporting it though, under “GOSSIP”.

    Beermonkey,
I think Martinez would be worth a shot and within our price range. The two of them have shown they can work together and the Venezuelan fans I met said he was even better than Rondon. They said his attitude was great, which if true is something Benitez would like. He’s a bit of a gamble coming from USA, but the only way we will get a 20 goal a season striker is by taking a risk like this or by buying/ developing a youth. Maybe Che Adams would be a better call. He has been improving season by season which shows he is adding things to his game as he ages rather than just rely on natural pace and strength. I used to always get carried away with the latest 16/17 year old speed demon who scored a wondergoal, but now I realise it’s best to keep an eye on the youths who improve bit by bit, like Longstaff, Dummett, Hayden or even Shelvey. Their trajectory is always going up while the likes of Jetro Willems are always going down, and players like him don’t remain fast for that long and when that goes in their mid-late twenties they have nothing else to offer.

We must have scouted him as well if Rafa rates him then it could happen

20 goals a season strikers like you say not cheap
A fit rondon will get 15+ if we can get him in before preseason
