Newcastle United Tweet Support For Former Player

Newcastle United’s official Twitter account has given a bit of a subtle poke to our local rivals today. They, of course, have done so with a bit of class as well.

Lee Bowyer– when playing for Newcastle United

Newcastle United have tweeted out congratulations to our former midfielder Lee Bowyer after he has guided Charlton to the Championship with a thrilling win today at Wembley over Sunderland.

This is a tremendous accomplishment for Lee who only became the permanent manager in September and is actually out of contract with the club this summer.

We’re pretty certain Charlton Athletic will be eager to sign Lee to another contract after this great success.

Bowyer played for the Magpies from 2003 to 2006 and made 107 appearances for the club. While he may mostly be remembered for that unfortunate incident, we remember him as a player of determination and passion who was a quality midfielder on his day.

Lee seems to have been able to channel his fire and use it to inspire his players. We hope to see him do well in what looks to be a bright future as a manager.

Well done to Lee and Charlton Athletic.

Seems to me that the source of these stories are representatives of the Sheikh or at least they are said to have confirmed it

    Mac

Reuter’s are quoting the sun, most of the papers on newsnow are quoting the one original piece and saying “it has been reported”.

Basically all of them are unsure and none have proof, fingers and toes crossed but the volume of newspapers reporting it doesn’t mean much right now.

    @jddubai

Very true. All of them are basically simply quoting the sun.

Right now, if this turns out to be fake, thesun is going to lose a hell lot of credibility as the whole world is quoting their piece.

#nufc have issued an initial “no comment” on the latest takeover story. They have knocked down previous takeover stories but Peter Kenyon and Amanda Staveley thought they’d made progress and were left disappointed. Let’s see where this one goes.

    ilovetoon,
It’s impossible for the Sun to lose any credibility. I was talking to a colleague who’s friend used to write for the Sun and he says they’d be out drinking all night and then in the morning they’d make up a story together, then my friend would get interviewed about the made up story and it would go to print. Even the tiny little stories that make you laugh are largely made up. It should be banned from calling itself a newspaper.

Although Khaled wealth is unknown, his family is thought to be worth around £150 billion.

What makes me think it’s real is that
    1) The club no commented instead of denying
    2) Claims it’s concluded and paperwork to the league already submitted, that’s very different to the normal rumours
    3) Reuters ran the story and so many picked it up straight away. The Journos know something, at least they think they’re sure they know something.

Also I expect MA to make a statement today if this is true, that’s what I understand is going to happen

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/05/26/newcastle-refuse-comment-reports-mike-ashley-has-sold-club-350m/amp/

Asked if the no comment was because it’s true they said they can’t comment until they’ve met with MA this morning

Also they confirmed the figure of £350m as the right amount for a sale. Why give us that and how coincidental that the rumoured amount is the same as the asking price

Also just a thought but if true you should get a step ahead of the bookies and get as many bets on for Newcastle silverware at today’s odds as you can
