The Northern Echo is reporting today that Sheikh Khaled has made good progress in his attempt to acquire Newcastle United and that he wants Rafa Benitez as the Newcastle manager.
From what we can tell the Sheikh is well along in his bid to buy Newcastle; for one thing, he has agreed a price of £350M with Mike Ashley and both parties are trying to complete the deal.
Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan will want to complete the deal quickly since the transfer window is already open and he wants to influence the players we can buy by giving Rafa significant funds to spend this summer.
There are also other parties still wanting to buy Newcastle, so we really hope Ashley doesn’t slow things down as he’s done so many times in the past.
Ashley likes to move at a snail’s pace and is uncomfortable with high speeds.
Sheikh Khaled – moving quickly to tie up the acquisition of Newcastle
Newcastle look to be an attractive proposition right now with Rafa Benitez at the helm and sold-out home gates of 52,000 and away ticket allocation always selling out.
And Newcastle have finished in a respectable 10th and 13th place in the Premier League in the previous two seasons, and our financials are in excellent shape.
All we need is an injection of cash to allow Rafa to build the Newcastle team into a force again in English football.
And in our televised games it’s been made clear by the TV commentators that the fans just love Rafa Benitez and the polar opposite is true of the owner Mike Ashley.
The current owner has done nothing but take Newcastle on a downward slide over 12 long and painful years.
The billionaire, who doesn’t like to spend money, has been like an albatross around the neck of Newcastle United FC and we’ll be glad to see the back of him.
And please take those Sports Direct adverts down – asap.
With other interested parties still wanting to buy Newcastle Sheikh Khaled will want to move at full speed to complete the deal, just as soon as he possibly can.
The Sheikh still has to pass the Premier League’s owners and directors test.
We all woke up to good news this morning – let’s hope we can get the Sheikh as our owner very quickly.
