Former Great Scottish Striker – Newcastle Takeover Would Be Fantastic

The news of yesterday about Newcastle was stunning.

There was hardly a whisper of a takeover and according to the Sun, signed contracts are now with the Premier League waiting for their approval.

Potential new owner Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan seems to have moved quickly, efficiently and under the radar screen.

If this deal can be closed quickly, it will have been almost a perfect acquisition, and of course, our fans are ecstatic about what this all means for the future.

Rafa will be given money to spend, and he (and Newcastle) should be up with the big boys soon.

56-year-old Ally McCoist played for Rangers 451 times with 251 goals from 1983 to 1998, and he has also managed Rangers from 2011 through 2014.

Ally McCoist – Newcastle takeover would be fantastic

He is in demand now as a pundit and appears on talkSPORT often, and he has talked about the possible acquisition of Newcastle and he seems highly delighted if the deal goes through.

This is what Ally said on talkSPORT early this morning:

“It would be fantastic, wouldn’t it?.”

“There’s been serious unrest there for some time between the supporters and the owner, that’s been very very clear.”

“I just hope this time they do get their wish, Newcastle.”

“I really like the coach Rafael Benitez, he’s clearly very well respected and an excellent coach.”

“And the Newcastle supporters love him.”

“And I would love to see him get the opportunity to increase the talent within that squad, because I do think they could move up the table and do really, really well.”

Well said Ally – now we have to complete the takeover just as soon as possible.

And course it may take some time to finish high up in the league, but it won’t be for want of trying or even because we have a miserly owner who doesn’t like to spend the club’s money.

Things could be the polar opposite of what they have been like over the last 12 years with Mike Ashley.

We should have ambition and money available at the club. and of course an experienced world-class manager.

Micky, I think that sounds right – 3rd party escrow account where the seller can verify the money is in place and therefore look at the final contract wording (dates, times for transfer of ownership etc). I think Ashley once referred to a ‘period of exclusivity’, where both parties are locked out from speaking to other parties.

Sounds reasonable that we’re there now.

I guess the FA would have to run their fit and proper tests at that stage too.

Time to conclude that stuff would be anyone’s guess, but with both parties willing and assuming nothing rears its head, your deadline of this upcoming holiday at the end of the week seems sensible, at least, or maybe they let the exclusivity run over that holiday.

They would probably use an Escrow Account.

The little reported issue with the deal may be the implications of the UEFA allegations against Man City for breaching financial fair play rules by the club’s owners who could also be the owners of Newcastle, the Abu Dhabi Royal Family.

The FA and the Premier League would have to be assured that there will be no conflict of interest between the two clubs having ultimately the same owners.

if this isnt correct regarding sale why are the club not issuing statement denying it
with regards to chronicle they are acting like they are in know however they knew nothing of the prospective deal until the sun broke it wouldnt believe anything these write as the shields gazette normally writes the total opposite and they are owned by same company
with regard to being the cousin does it make any difference who he is as long as he has the money which according to his company he does
with regards to buying liverpool think most people would struggle to come up with 2billion

The FA and the Premier League have come under scrutiny, from allegations made by UEFA originating from the German press, about turning a blind eye to the alleged financial shenanigans by Man City and whether its owners are involved.

The FA have to be seen as squeaky clean, not least to the owners of other premiership clubs many of whom haven’t got the financial muscle of the Abu Dhabi Royal Family.

Look, I’m speaking to various well-placed sources in Middle East who are giving me encouragement that #nufc bid is real. Can’t tell you ‘who’, it breaks journalistic code. There is definitely something happening though and other interested parties outside of Bin Zayed Group too.

till the fa have done there due diligence and found a problem i’m not going to worry about what might be there or not. its nothing more than scare mongering by the press till they reach a verdict 😀

oldarse – I want it as much as you but it’s all based on yesterday’s statement by the Zayed Group and nufc’s reply – there is no real new news – just people drawing their own conclusions.

Slow and steady wins the race.

If the deal goes through I dont think we need to blow the bank, three or four quality players would get us up towards 7th.

Build slowly, not as slow as Ashley but no need to rush out and pay ott for players who are after a pay day.

I hope Rafa gets final say on signings, don’t want a marque signing that won’t fit into or buy into Rafas style tactics and systems.

Everyone needs to pull In the right direction to win.

Markkasus, I often accidentally post a half finished script, due to the submit button being where it is. Not normally one line though, usually when it’s at the bottom and if you’ve missed a space or put in a comma that shouldn’t be there and try removing it. The submit button needs moving half an inch down imo. It might be just fat finger syndrome I’ve got, but I’ve done it loads of times.

Even if Ashley stays – God forbid – we don’t need to spend a fortune every window. Just a few quality signings – and quality doesn’t mean expensive – each time will soon have us up there. As long as Rafa has the final say, he’s proven he can find a bargain and the more he has to spend, the better the bargain can be.
If this Sheik does take over, he needs to leave the football issues to the football expert as well. Just let Rafa get on with his project and he will bring us a trophy. Maybe not the PL, but after this long, any trophy will do for starters.

My nephew sent me this. Worth a read. As with everything related to this Khalid though, not much is really guaranteed to be true. There appears to be a lot of ifs and buts connected to him. The only ‘ifs’ that bothers me is if he has the money. The ‘buts’ can be the final handshake he gives Ashley – a Geordie kiss from all the fans right on his snotter.

Moving money around your own accounts is very simple, I do it at least once a week on my smart phone.

However moving large sums of money, and in this case a very large sum of money! is not straight forward or cheap!
There are major internationals protocols and procedures in place to prevent criminal activities, such as money laundering, and tax evasion.

Bank charges on the transfer of £350M will be eye-watering…
