There were reports this past January that Newcastle were in negotiations for Juventus left-back Rogerio Oliveira da Silva, known simply as Rogerio.
There is a report in the newspaper Tuttosport that Newcastle are after the Brazilian again this summer.
Rafa after Juventus left-back Rogerio
The outlet Sportwitness has a screenshot of the actual newspaper report today which we have reproduced below.
The 21-year-old joined Sassuolo for €1.5M from Brazilian club Sport Club Internacional in the 2016 winter window.
Juventus then purchased the player that summer for €2M and loaned him back to Sassuolo for the past two seasons.
Rogerio broke into the first team at Sassuolo in February 2018 and has been a regular starter ever since. He has made 49 appearances for Sassuolo with 42 of those in the starting eleven.
While generally a left-back, he has played as a left-sided midfielder this season as well.
Now that Rogerio’s loan spell is over, he is back at Juventus but well down in the pecking order.
With Alex Sandro and Leonardo Spinazzola in their prime and ahead of him at the left back position, Juventus may be willing to cash in on the youngster.
The report claims the fee would be in the €20- €25M range.
This is an exciting young player who would fit well in Newcastle’s system at left wing-back if these reports are accurate.

Comment #41Maybe the slug cant verify things are moving until the Sheikh is deemed a fit and proper person , if he has a skeleton in his closet the premier league might not allow him to own us……..highly unlikely but i can sort of see the logic, I do think wel hear something before the weekend though .

Comment #45Micky do you know if Mansour and khaled get along?
Reason I ask is the Man City win may have been more important than we’ll all ever know if the sale goes through.

Comment #46Do you not think Ashley will release a statement once it’s gone through…

Hopefully this will make him think again.
I’ve always been confused as to why he can’t move his family up here… We have some of the best medical, staff in the country alongside great facilities.
Maybe his partner just doesn’t want to move, full stop?
I hope he stays because to replace his quality will cost an absolute fortune

Comment #56thereallowickmag, I have no idea whether they “get on”, but there will be respect between them and they will not wash any dirty laundry in public.
They’re all from the same tribe, so will stick together.
(btw “tribe” is not a racist term, that’s what they’re called here).

Comment #59If NUFC are being sold is it because HMRC are starting to up the ante on the tax affairs of our club?
Should the worst come to the worst and we end up in court will it be Mr Ashley or the new owners appearing as the defence.
Also, I see Mr Ashley has sold off a few assets recently, does anyone think he is about to do a runner.

If the takeover’s almost there, why are Ashley’s camp claiming they’re waiting for a formal offer? Could it be that the buyer’s legals have cocked up somewhere, or maybe Ashley’s lot have lost it or is Ashley’s pi$$ing about waiting for a higher bid?
Or, has something been lost in translation somewhere down the line?

Comment #63Regardless of what happens, I don’t want us to blatantly buy any trophy. Not that we will get chance – we’ve been pre-warned they’re not Man City rich. Whatever we get, it’ll be nice to earn it.
Am I paranoid in thinking the PL took a sudden interest in FFP about the time they’d have had notification of this takeover? Oh, they’re gonna love this – the Toon Army on the match again. We’ll see if players really don’t want to come this far from London – if the wages are there.
Interesting times. I’m not even sure the knacka could mess it up from here – but I wouldn’t put my life on it. If anybody can…
I can’t wait to see him hone

Comment #65Toonluvva – i would love it if FatAash sold us to Sheik Khaled and then when the fat one thinks he’s washed his hands clean from us HMRC take him theough a long court case and he has to pay a huge fine and suffer the humiliation. That would be a nice Fcuk You to Ashley from NUFC. A nice send off I would think after all he’s put us through.

Comment #69The tax issue only involved about five million. It’ll be paid back and a warning issued. In the greater scheme of things, five million is neither here nor there. There’ll be no big scandal.

One of your minor heroes, Gove’s claiming that the picture of Lenin he had on wall when he was at university was there because Lenin believed in education.
Is Gove a closet Leninist, a Marxist lefty socialist planted to scupper Brexit?

Comment #76Just thinking about all the potential players we are going to sign, if it’s all about money for them great, but how many might say no to next season as not in any European competition? Mind you, that just me being negative and want to sit back and enjoy.
On another note, those who said not going back until Ashley has gone, get your season ticket applications in quick before they sell out

Comment #79With investment in the right areas we’d scare a lot of teams, the defence is already at a decent level.
A few sprinkles of magic could see us jump several places up the league in a single bound without blowing the budget.

Comment #80Transfers in will be Rafa’s call, if HRH has sense ( very different thing than money, which he undoubtedly has in massive abundance) in which case character will be a requisite, not just ability. Rafa now has the chance to build his best-ever team over the next. 3-5 years. Wow.
