There is a report in the Chronicle today on the futures of Salomon Rondon and Dwight Gayle.
Rondon is back at his club West Brom where he has one year left on his contract.
He has a £16.5M release clause, and he seems to be waiting of Rafa to sort his future out at Newcastle,
But now there is a complicating factor with the Bin Zayed Group trying to buy the club.
And that could delay things further.
Rafa Benitez with Salomon Rondon
If the potential new owners are successful in buying Newcastle, we expect Salomon to arrive at the club almost immediately.
This is what Rafa has said about Salomon, who is our Player of the Season:
“I was really pleased for him and for us.”
“It’s congratulations to him because he did so well.” “He helped the team to stay up.”
“He has been an important player and it’s exactly the same when I talked about my situation (his future depends on his current employers).
“His situation depends on West Brom so we will see what happens with them.
“We will have time to talk about his future.”
There really is a lot to do this summer, but once again Newcastle are handcuffed by Ashley in yet another transfer window.
He has taken weeks to try to agree on a new deal with Rafa but no success so far.
If that had been accomplished, we could at least be signing some of the top players the manager has lined up; they would know the manager is staying on Tyneside.
Dwight Gayle is another player whose future needs to be sorted out.
But in this case, it looks like Dwight will be leaving Newcastle and we expect nothing to be done until Dwight returns to training on July 4th.
Norwich City are yet another club who are reported to want him, and we see no reason why we cannot get £20M for the striker we paid £10M for from Crystal Palace three years ago.
He’s now a better all-around player than he was when we signed him.
So there’s lots of work to do, but Newcastle at the moment are in a little bit of chaos and not able to sign any of our transfer targets.
Other Premier League clubs have no such problems.

Comment #242Charlie I think Brian McNally has retired now he posts on twitter often, the only posts I have seen from him criticising NUFC is all just against Ashley not the club, I remember the time you refer too I think that was when Shepherd was in charge
