We had an article earlier in the week about a report in Mundo Deportivo claiming that Joselu was close to signing for La Liga club Alaves. It seems that the report was accurate as there is an update with more details of the looming transfer.
Joselu– flying back to Spain?
Yesterday there was news in Marca that Joselu is indeed expected to sign for Alaves very soon.
He will join fellow Spaniard and former West Ham striker Lucas Perez who has recently joined Alaves for €2.3M.
The report claims the transfer fee for Joselu will be €2M which is about £1.7M. If accurate, this means Newcastle will take a £3.3M loss on the player.
It seems that Joselu is very keen to return to Spain as he apparently will take a cut in wages to join Alaves.
We think this is a good deal for both the player and the club. Joselu was just not going to part of the plans for next season.
There is one caveat to this deal that is worrying. We only have Dwight Gayle as an out and out striker in the squad now.
We don’t believe Gayle has much of a future on Tyneside either.
So expect an avalanche of striker links over the next few weeks as Newcastle are most certainly in the market for at least a couple.
The question is what level of striker are we truly in the market for. With this takeover still in the dark, there is a massive amount of uncertainty as to the quality of player that we will see brought into the club.
We hope this takeover business is sorted soon so that we can finally get to some incoming transfer business.
