There’s a strong in Tuttosport today that says openly that there will be a deal to appoint Rafa Benitez as the new Chelsea manager.
That’s what the report says and it’s from Turin where Juventus fans hope that current Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will join them soon as manager.
But Chelsea fans dislike Rafa enormously and he gets booed every time he took Newcastle to Stamford Bridge.
As far as we know there’s only report out about it with other outlets simply quoting Tuttosport.
We don’t think it will happen but this is what can happen when Mike Ashley plays the waiting game with a world-class manager who’s in demand.
And the local reports are that Rafa has not got the assurances he needed from Mike Ashley to take the club forward.
The sooner Mike Ashley is out of Newcastle the sooner the club can heal its wounds and become a top club in Europe.
#nufc fans are going to have nervous breakdowns when they hear Rafa going back to Chelsea

Was just thinking, although I dont believe the stories. if it were true, how bad must the deal offered by MA to Rafa be if he is considering going to Chelsea where the fans openly hate him, there is a Transfer Ban and they are about to sell their best player #nufc

Personally still think the #NUFCtakeover is happening, and will happen… I’m not basing this off any inside knowledge, or anything other than gut feeling, and sheer HOPE. Would love to hear this week, one way or the other, so we can move forward into the new season. #NUFC

No way is Rafa going to Chelsea, not in a million years, Chelsea is the worse club to manage with the worse fans in the world, Rafa wins them a cup, they hate him, Sarri wins them a cup, they hate him, Conte wins them the cup, they hate him!
The list goes on.

Comment #6It’s amusing that people will scream and shout about how the Chronicle have lied, dissembled, reported the facts which suit their own agenda etc, and yet are so willing to believe them when they say a Twitter account is fake.
The website (binzayed.ae) linked to the email address used to set up the account 7 years ago no longer exists. It now redirects to binzayed.com, the website belonging to the company which MidhatKidwai is MD and Sheikh Khaled is the Chairman.
Is it too much of a stretch to believe that in the intervening 7 years when they changed the website over they didn’t switch over legacy email addresses, or that the re-routing function has long since been switched off? This would cause the email to bounce, just the same way it would if it were a fake email address in the first place.
I’m no technical genius, maybe someone will enlighten me.

Comment #9With regards to the discussion as to whether the MidhatKidwai twitter account is fake. You can change your display name but you can’t change your handle. So the @midhatkidwaiUAE is a fixed handle and it will have been that since the account was created.
That leaves two possibilities, either this is an exceptionally elaborate hoax that’s been in the works since 2012 or it’s a legit account.
With regards to lack of tweet activity; I’ve got a twitter account that I’ve had since 2011. I’ve made 14 tweets in that time. Maybe I’m fake? I’ll have to check. Not to mention a lot of his comment tweets are in Arabic. As for who he follows, all seems like people you might follow.
I think it’s a genuine account and he’s using it now he’s got something to say. If anything, I take his new found love for twitter a positive sign.

Comment #15Wow, another day another string of BS. Face it, none of us know wtf is happening. Why people insist on coming in and telling us they know what’s happening, when I reality they don’t, I have no idea. Pure arrogance.
If there’s not a deal going through – and I don’t know either way and won’t pretend I do – what exactly has the BZG got to gain by saying there is? What’s in it for them? Make themselves look stupid? They’d certainly do that if nothing was in the pipeline, nothing is more certain Businessmen the world over would be laughing at them.
Granted, Ashley may be lying – no change there – but would The BZG go this far if they thought Ashley had no intention of selling? There must be penalties for pulling out of a deal this far gone, surely?
So on the evidence thus far, either the BZG are a bunch of rank amateurs being played by Ashley – somebody they could destroy if he embarrassed them – or there is something happening and NDA’S are preventing the DETAILS being revealed.
Do I know this? No, but I’m not privy to their private discussions – and neither is anybody else.
There’s a huge difference between saying ‘this is what I’ve heard’ or ‘this could be happening’ and gobshites piling in with ‘I know this and I know that’. You know NOTHING Jon Snow. We’re at a point where ‘wait and see’ could not be more apt.
Now there’s this spurious link to Chelsea. I even said a couple of weeks ago I’m pleased Rafa is unlikely to go back to Chelsea because he would be ideal with this transfer ban hanging over them, but come on, do they think he’s not a proud man? After the way Chelsea fans treated him, is he ever likely to be that desperate to go back there? The lack of respect and gratitude he got from those lowlives, why would he even consider it?
Again, it is possible – anything is possible – but he’d lose a lot of respect both here and in Liverpool, not to mention in the world of football in general. Just my opinion, but I imagine he’d sooner retire than go back there. Not like he’s desperate to work is it? After what he’s done here, he’s got plenty credit built up and he’s not exactly skint. He was out of work for a short time before he came here and very few have another job lined up before they leave the one they’re in, not in football.
We’re just going to have to be patient. It swings from doom n gloom to elation every other day.
The last we heard was that forms had been submitted and they were awaiting an answer, which could take time. To alleviate stress, BZG released a short statement to that effect. This was not denied by Ashley, who couldnt care less about our feelings if he tried.
So it wouldn’t be Ashley stringing us along this time, it would be the Sheikh – and for what purpose? He doesn’t even live here and has no current connection to football. What would he get out of mugging us off?
We’ll know soon enough. If this is another stunt – and I don’t know how Ashley gets a Sheikh on a retainer tbh – it would be another in a long line of stunts. Will it reduce Ashley’s standing amongst us? NO!! He couldn’t get any lower in our opinion if he tried.
Rafa’s always kept us posted. Maybe this time he can’t. But if he can’t, it’s likely because an NDA has been signed and an NDA would only be signed under certain circumstances – such as a potential takeover. And whereas he may not have been in the loop, as just an employee, I can’t imagine he hasn’t sought clarification since.
Be patient for a short while longer. No point getting stressed about things you have zero control over after all.

Comment #18I said on an earlier thread last week that I believe this whole takeover will be played out on Twitter and social media. The papers know as much as we do, which is nothing. The club are clearly locked down tighter than cows arse in fly season. There’s nothing coming out of there and the people who might know anything are probably $h1t scared of saying anything (perhaps in fear of mucking up the deal and not getting rid of the fat one).
In any case, when this breaks, it’ll be via Twitter – the papers will all be playing catch up.
Also, my other two-penneth. These rumours about Rafa to Chelski aren’t designed to wind us up. They are designed to get clicks from Chelsea fans..papers are swines; remember that.

Whether this is a genuine account or not I think the information about the takeover was sent via email from BZG to media such as the Chronicle.

Comment #29A positive way to look at the lack of information coming from Rafael is that he could be tied to a NDA also. Or he is staying on and the deal is agreed that if the club is not sold they will announce him staying then so to minimise the fallout of yet another false dawn.

Comment #31Another thing that might be worth considering. The Monochrome Aquisition company set up has both the Sheikh and Midhat Kidwai as directors. Midhat has British citizenship but the Sheikh doesn’t. A while ago, I set up a UK company with an American friend and the hoops we had to jump through to get him on the company documents was immense. It wasn’t cheap. Notarised documents, birth certificates etc. Seems like a lot of effort for them if this is all bull.

Comment #33Ron, exactly. Rafa knows how we’ve suffered under Ashley. He sympathises with us, not that git. He’s a fans’ manager, not an owner’s.
I might be reading him completely wrong – and if I am, I am – but he’s hardly likely to walk away without caring what happens to the fans.
If he was going to walk because he wasn’t happy with his contract, I suspect he might’ve done so by now and given the club every chance to replace him in time to work towards the new season. Something is stopping him and its surely more likely to be because he’s waiting like everybody else to see if the PL accept the Sheikh or not?
Seems to me like everybody is in limbo waiting for an answer.

Comment #35If the Sun newspaper hadn’t revealed it’s scoop news, 16 days ago, about a takeover of NUFC by BZG, then this blog would be entirely preoccupied with the total lack of news about anything concerning our plans for next season.
There would certainly no debate about the merits, truth and prospects of a potential takeover!
The overall reaction to the Sun’s revelation was overwhelmingly positive, and in general it was considered to be a plausible development.
After 16 days the fan’s are losing patience, which is somewhat understandable, it’s like when you’re young, and you know Xmas is coming, it can’t come fast enough!
However in reality it’s more like buying a house, only very rarely does the process proceed fast and smoothly, there are too many factors and Professionals involved, (Real Estate professionals, Financial and Legal, always work at their own pace, partially to justify their fees!)
If this is the norm with basic domestic house purchase, what’s it like with an International business takeover, of a well known sporting brand, by a traditionally private and secretive Arabic business group, especially as the whole transaction is worth over one third of a million GBPs..
I think the process is running relatively smoothly, certainly compared with my last house purchase. My purchase was on the face of it, reasonably simple, both parties were chain free, the money was lodged with the lawyers, who were investigating various items regarding future or imminent planning activities, adjacent boundary specifics etc etc. One thing after another dragged a process, that should have taken a few weeks, to a 14 week conclusion.
With the best will in the world, these things take time.
Usually these procedures are held in private, (as was the case with the Chelsea and Man City purchase.) but thanks to the Sun’s scoop, our takeover is happening, behind a legal wall of silence…
