Another Former Newcastle United Defender Gets Manager Role

Jonathan Woodgate has been appointed the manager of Middlesborough. This is a great opportunity for the former Newcastle United player who is a Middlesborough lad.

This appointment comes just days after Mike Williamson was appointed manager of Gateshead FC.

Here is the announcement made by the club:

Woodgate was one of the top centre-backs in English Football when he joined Newcastle from Leeds United in January 2003 for a fee of about £12M.

Though he had a lot of trouble with injuries, he was a class player when he could stay fit.

He only spent a year and a half at Newcastle as Real Madrid came calling in the summer of 2004. After making just 37 appearances for our club, he was off to the Madrid giants.

There were rumblings in 2008 that Kevin Keegan was trying to get Woodgate back to Newcastle but it was not meant to be.

We would like to congratulate Jonathan on this appointment as manager of his hometown club.

    Mike Ashley

Would you still go to the match if you had to physically hand me the money at the turnstile, which is essentially what you are doing now? #nufc

could put the season ticket prices up by 500% and it wouldn’t matter, you’d still turn up. We’ll be together forever

Jon…. idk it looks a bit half arsed thrown together, almost like someone just wanted to get it out there. If it was a real promotional thing it would look a bit more professional. It screems Ashley told someone to make a link and tweet it out. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.

With everyone retweeting that SD monochrome stunt AshLie’s SD is getting a lot of free exposure again. I think that was the plan and we fell right into it.

I think the Sun journalist (Justin Allen) has a contact with the FA/EPL, so he got an inside scoop on the takeover. So I think his most recent comment is genuine but he still doesn’t know anything else other than the fit and proper test is ongoing.
Regarding Caulkin comments, exclusivity may not happen until the fit and proper process has finished.
Therefore, there may be no more info until the fit and proper process has been passed.

IrishRob, didn’t cause me any stress mate, but I’ve seen comments about it escalate before on the blog, and I’m aware of at least 1 regular poster whom it would be an issue for. I just think it’s a flippant comment, best to just de-escalate before it turns into something its not. Peace.

Is this a cut / paste job of the rumour about Longstaff to Manyoo from the other day?

    Either way, isn’t happening.

In today’s modern era and without a shadow of doubt we must have one NUFC supporter that works for say SIS, could be easy for them to wiretap say pinky and the brains phones.

Good damn, I’m losing my mind now with this take over no news bullshit.

My god all this second guessing is driving me mad. I doubt Ashley has a handle on the tweets at SD. Far too many people below him that should be able to handle that outlet. All these journalist with secret sources, are surely just guessing as to what’s happening with no comments from any official outlet. If only Rafa came out and calmed everybody down and confirms he’s staying for one more year at least. That’s my thoughts anyway.

Because no way would Nufc or Rafa let this massive prospect go

    Frank Pingles…

Posting that SD link led me to click and since then, I’ve got SD tat ads popping up all over the place. I’d say that’s been a clever piece of marketing by SD’s agent. Bustards!

And no,I can’t install an ad block on a windows 10 phone.

I don’t know why but today is the first day I have started to doubt the takeover!!

I keep looking at the positives that there are a couple of statements but I keep having this nagging doubt in the back of my mind because that fat tub of lard that currently owns us

He is a cnut of the highest order and can’t be trusted!

I just hope for a quick resolution whatever is going to happen!!

But I also believe if fatty stays this time he doesn’t know what is coming his way… There will be utter chaos!

As it stands mate there is more worry than positivity at the moment .Mass of uncertainty is engulfing the club proposed sale…Rafa staying or leaving,Perez and Longstaff apparent sale in the offing.
Truth be told mate no one knows Jack at present..Including these pop up fake accounts

I’m keeping it monochrome – the situation is black and white, the Bin Zayed Group have told us how it stands and NUFC / Ashley have not denied it.

Howay lads, bit of faith required. Good things can happen to us and we’ll see the benefits of that soon.

The article that NY Mag posted yesterday, written by Richard Barham (Head of Sports Practice at Dentons) explaining the EPL F&PP Rules, states that “The EPL… will not want to block takeovers that are overall seen as beneficial for the clubs involved”.

In that case, only complete numpties, paupers and criminals will be failed as regards this takeover because anyone else would be an upgrade on MA and therefore “beneficial” to NUFC.

So I don’t think there is any doubt about Sheikh Khaled (or Midhat Kidwai) passing the test despite nebulous ties to Mansour. It’s just a matter of time.
