Sun Reporter Who Broke Takeover Story – It’s Still Progressing Well

Justin Allen was the Sun reporter who broke the news of Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan and his Bin Zayed Group having agreed terms of £350M to buy Newcastel from current owner Mike Ashley back on May 26th – 19 days ago.

Everything Allen reported in that piece has been backed up by the Bin Zayed Group by their two statements so in that sense, he has some credibility – at least in being able to talk to Sheikh Khaled and his people.

And in response to a query by a Newcastle fan asking for an update on the takeover, Allan has tweeted the following:

As we’ve said before at this point there are two parallel universes existing – one that denies the takeover will happen and that comes from some leaks from the Newcastle hierarchy reported by the Chronicle.

And on the Bin Zayed Group side of things they seem confident the takeover will happen with things waiting at the moment on the Premier league doing their work.

We hope the latter is the real news.

Comments welcome.

£350m seems to be number that provokes controversy and suggestions of lies.

Happy Friday Ohio – I will be in the Saints Bar by 1530hrs Zulu for Friday beers. Not quite the sports afternoon we used to enjoy in Germany but I’ll take it 🙂

You going to Applebees or some other quaint American place?

Fortunately my birthday is distracting me today, I’m 5 pints deep and have a devils lettuce surprise for later.

Good luck with the takeover chaos, I’m going on a journey through sight and sound, see you on the other side.

    Enjoy your weekend peeps xx

Massive apology to anyone I offended in a previous post. It was very insensitive of me to put it like that or use those words, and probably not the first time I’ve done it on here either. Didn’t mean to cause any hurt, it wont happen again!!

It seems each journalist has a source which they trust and they don’t believe anything else that is being said. So in summary:

Caulkin has his source and was wrong about Staveley

Allen has his source at the FA/EPL and doesn’t know anymore than what he is told from that source.

Edwards has his source and seems to be negative about the whole takeover.

Think somebody said the ones who walked away are the Mexican group. Not sure they are ever that serious at 350 mill. It’s beginning to drag on and causing grief. I’m hanging on to the thought that I think Rafa would have let the fans know if he wasn’t staying

I once upset someone by slagging off a few fans who had their photo taken with Kenedy when he arrived first time. Looked like they’d been rounded up from the club shop, they looked proper humourless and festooned with SD bags.

I was called out for being racist – I definitely wasn’t being, it was incidental to me that they were of an ethnicity other than caucasian. As far as I was concerned, they could have been blue with yellow polka dots, they still looked gormless.

Allen’s source at the FA/EPL was at least spot on about the BZ Group. Non of the other journalists had an inclining of anything going on until the story broke, then they all went scurrying to their “sources” who also didn’t have a scooby doo. Allen’s latest tweet is presumably from the same source at the FA/EPL so I think has a little bit more credibility.
