Sun Reporter Who Broke Takeover Story – It’s Still Progressing Well

Justin Allen was the Sun reporter who broke the news of Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan and his Bin Zayed Group having agreed terms of £350M to buy Newcastel from current owner Mike Ashley back on May 26th – 19 days ago.

Everything Allen reported in that piece has been backed up by the Bin Zayed Group by their two statements so in that sense, he has some credibility – at least in being able to talk to Sheikh Khaled and his people.

And in response to a query by a Newcastle fan asking for an update on the takeover, Allan has tweeted the following:

As we’ve said before at this point there are two parallel universes existing – one that denies the takeover will happen and that comes from some leaks from the Newcastle hierarchy reported by the Chronicle.

And on the Bin Zayed Group side of things they seem confident the takeover will happen with things waiting at the moment on the Premier league doing their work.

We hope the latter is the real news.

Comments welcome.

The problem with the takeover is the day and age we live in, everyone is so used to getting what they want instantly. If say it were 20 years ago and there was an article in the sun about a takeover you’d get excited for a bit but it’d go away again fairly quickly, no one would sit in watching teletext for hours waiting on updates. £350million is still a huge amount of money, regardless that as football fans we’re exposed to x millions for transfers, it’s not a quick sale and as pointed out if you’re buying a house for 1/10th of that it can still take months to finalise. Let the excitement go, get on with your day to day and be happy in a couple of weeks when we have a new owner with a bit of ambition

Anyone else watching the women’s World Cup?

It’s not been bad at all but I still find the goalkeepers a little lacking.

Luke Edwards was the one reporter who always had his doubts about Amanda Staveley and played her bid down a bit like he is doing now. On the Wednesday we played Everton at home and the news broke that Staveley deal was close he got taken in like them all and even wrote an article about how great Stavely had played Fat Mike. Since that deal fell through he has never been positive on any takeover story be it Peter Kenyon, BZG or the two unamed groups he rubbishes everything. I don’t think he has any information on the deal and if it’s fake it’s just he has his doubts following the news of the bid finding it;s way in the press

Polka Dots! Don’t get me started! I just don’t like the way they come over here and steal our patterns. What do they contribute to our design landscape? Bludgers, the spot of them!

If anyone posts a link to that song on YouTube, they’re off my Christmas card list!

    @ Return

Agree with what you wrote. Allen’s source seems the most likely to be giving some accurate information. However, that information seems to be just BZG has submitted paperwork to the FA/EPL.

It is possible that his source won’t know anything more about the fit and proper process, not even when it is done.

Still in the positive camp and the takeover will go through, just wish it would hurry up.

I thought that but she just didn’t seem to get off the ground.

Don’t want to seem sexist but the goals look huge, a lot of high shots seem to go in.

Droppy yeh the standard of general play has been pretty good although I think Scotland look a bit slow. If that penalty had been given against us I reckon we would have been upset

It was a pathetic penalty decision.

Now it’s The Metro ( not really a newspaper more of a hand out for waiting rooms ) chipping in with nonsense
    BOGOFF springs to mind

Typical that Manchester’s reserve team are trying to copy the Rafa blueprint….

Manchester United are growing increasingly confident of making Sean Longstaff their second high-profile signing of the summer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to the Mirror, believes United can capitalise on the uncertainty at Newcastle and secure the services of the England Under-21 international midfielder for as little as £25million. The Magpies were last month reported to be on the verge of being taken over by a Saudi-led investment group but that has failed to materialise, while the future of Rafa Benitez remains the subject of intense speculation. Longstaff appeared to commit his future to his hometown club last month but the lure of a move to Old Trafford may be too great to resist as Solskjaer aims to build a new-look team around talented and enthusiastic young British players.

Dont worry about upsetting people on here, like life it happens.

Personally I’d rather you told the truth than try to fit in and toe the line.

Everyone on the blog is easy going, some have posted here a long time and have running feuds, nothing nasty just personality clashes.

The only time a new poster will get a hard time is if they’re a wum and only here to wind up and upset others.

Everyone’s input is welcome, this blog knows more than most about what’s going on Nufc related because we talk and say the awkward or out of the box things to each other. Gotta look from both sides of the fence to see the landscape in all its glory.

Different views from different walks of life is what makes this blog great, every day is a school day on here, always learning and the hair pulling and name calling is par for the course.

We dont know what is going on behind the scenes as far as the takeover is concerned, its all spec imo,, now the baby face assassin seems growingly confident that he will get Longstaff. Why? has he spoken to the players agent and had good feedback? I know the jad said he wants to stay, but money talks,, and our uncertain future could make his mind up for him.
