Fulham Look To Gayle To Replace Former Newcastle Player

There is a report in the Daily Star that Fulham will move for Dwight Gayle as Aleksandar Mitrovic’s replacement when the Serbian leaves Craven Cottage.

News broke yesterday that Aleksandar Mitrovic may command a fee as high as £30M. That earlier report, again from the Daily Star, reveals that Real Betis has joined West Ham, Crystal Palace, Bayer Leverkusen, and Fenerbahce in the race to sign our former striker.

It will be interesting to see where Mitrovic, who remains popular with Newcastle fans, ends up next year as a return to the continent looks to be a real possibility.

If Fulham are able to sell Mitrovic for a profit after just one year, that could be great news for Newcastle who should be looking to get at least £15M for Gayle. If Fulham have the cash and are interested, then hopefully a deal can be made.

Dwight is worth a fortune for Championship clubs as his goalscoring record in that division is superb. He is, barring long-term injury, likely a guarantee of 20 goals.

Dwight Gayle– on his way back to London?

The glaring issue with Gayle going back to a Championship club will be his wages. As with prior links to West Brom and Leeds United, will Fulham eventually be put off due to Gayle’s wage demands?

One can understand why Gayle would be hesitant to take a significant cut in his salary. He will be twenty-nine in October and his next contract could well be his last big one.

My thoughts exactly, Rafa still here and saying nothing to me is a positive.

He has 20 mins left on his contract, he would of let something slip to the press.

Well that’s my take on it.

I wonder if the announcement regarding Rafa and the takeover will happen on or the day after rafas contract expires.

    That’s excellent news.

I had some info from a lad who works at the Benton with the kids but didn’t dare share.

As it turns out the info I got was based on a slight case of mistaken identity anyway. So would’ve caused a possible increase in the doubters on here and all for nothing.

Keep sharing what you can. If nothing else it keeps the hope alive. Although I strongly believe this time it’s happening.

It’s not ideal, but if Gayle is going to be hard to sell because of his reported wages, then loaning him out for a large £xm loan fee to Championship clubs every season may not be a bad way of recouping money?

Rafa this Rafa that, the takeover is more important than a manager, we need rid of the owner first and foremost. Benitez will make his mind up when all is sorted to suit him, he could have helped the cause of getting a list of transfers put in place at least of possible incomings, afterall he is still being paid till the end of the month.
