Newcastle Could Learn A Lot From Frankfurt Transfers

We had done an article last month about how we thought Newcastle should go for Red Star Belgrade striker Dejan Joveljic.

The comparison to recent Real Madrid signing Luka Jovic was there to be made. Both strikers came from the Red Star academy and were available for nominal fees.

Luka Jovic took a bit of time to develop but has just made a massive move to Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt for €60M. He had just joined Frankfurt permanently this year after they made their loan deal a permanent one for just €5M from Benfica, who must be kicking themselves.

Well, Frankfurt took no time to make the connection and have just purchased Dejan Joveljic for only €4M. We will have to wait to see if this player can develop and become a world class player like Jovic.

Here is the tweet from Frankfurt announcing Joveljic:

These are the types of deals we really hope Newcastle pursue under the Bin Zayed Group. While we obviously hope they also make the necessary first team additions, the Newcastle academy is glaringly lacking.

We would welcome a few additions like Joveljic this summer. While they may not end up becoming Luka Jovic, this is how elite squads are built.

You make a few quality additions to the first team and then you blood a few youngsters. It not only helps with team cohesion but it is fiscally sound as well.

Our lass often comments that I’d watch tiddlywinks if it was, on TV. Not sure that’s true – it doesn’t involve a ball! 🙂

Not a fan of cricket or golf.

    Don’t like folk music.

Oddly I just scroll past those posts.

The women’s World Cup has been quite watchable so far and the U21 euros started today.

The news on all things NUFC is very slow and coming up with things to write about is a real challenge.

In the spirit of this particular thread Dani Ceballos of Real Madrid would be worth a punt, very talented boy and not likely to get much game time.

Actually Paraguay are on live now in the US and they have Almiron playing as a number 10. I could give a report on that. has number 23 on his shirt and now has drifted out to the right. Seems the are letting him play where he wants.

That has to be good news for us – that Almiron seems to have recovered and is starting.

Italy v Spain U21s is a great game so far.

Seems to be real bad blood between them and no way it’s finishing 11 v 11.

    Tony

Keep it up, wish I could watch Miggy.

Just did a brilliant through ball but centre forward’s first touch was bad. Playing Qatar who are surprisingly the better team so far even though they are down a goal.

    Still hasn’t trimmed them eyebrows.

Once the FA approve the deal and assuming Rafa is in the loop and wanted by the new owners then that could and should be when he gets to start spending the clubs money, not after the deal is publicly announced as done and dusted. That would be a lot better for us. The fit and proper is passed, or even failed, then that’s the green light to start getting some players in. Getting the deadwood out should be well underway regardless, as should a Gayle Rondon swap.

The thing is there is foot all to talk about at this precise moment regarding the toon, we’re all sports fans and some of us like a bit of cricket, it’s only natural that while a WC is on during the day that people will talk about cricket, however if people started talking about Somerset vs Kent on here the day we play Arsenal then that most definitely would not be cricket old chap.

Sarri “was brought in to do a job with everybody knowing what style of football he played. Nobody seemed to be happy on a squad that is famous for its ‘we care or we don’t care’ approach to each new EPL season. Despite having a club roster that did not match his well known playing style, Blues unhappy with him, the club finish 3rd, make the final of one competition where his keeper publicly humiliates him and proceeds to lose the penalty shoot out like all losers do, his club finishes the season by beating a London rival club for the Europa League title, he cannot get out of town fast enough. Hope everyone is proud of themselves for this.”

Boo boys will be far happier with Frank Lampard. Good luck to him. But yeah, you gotta think xenophobia has sadly won the day here.

Has anyone here seen a Champions League match with Spanish commentators? Ridiculously biased. It’s like a gang of 3 or even 4 commentators at times all talking over each other and being completely bias for the Spanish team. It’s so frustrating to listen to, I turn to Sky Sports so I don’t have to hear that. Although it’s such a laugh hearing them cry about everything when the Spanish side like Real Madrid is losing in the match.

At least the British commentators remain neutral throughout and are very professional about it all.
