Ashley – Benitez Deadlock May Never Be Resolved – It Doesn’t Matter If There’s A Takeover

The Northern Echo today are reporting the deadlock between Rafa Benitez and owner Mike Ashley about the manager’s new contract is still going on with Rafa Benitez having only 13 days left on his contract.

There’s supposedly a deal on the table for Rafa to sign but he’s unlikely to want to sign it.

The Bin Zayed Group are said to be progressing well in their bid to buy Newcastle for £350M and they hope to close the deal by the end of June.

There was another report in the Sun yesterday from Justin Allen, the reporter who broke the takeover story exactly three weeks ago.

And the Sheikh Khaled story has not changed in those two weeks and they want Rafa as their new manager and will give him significant funds to spend this summer.

They hope to close the deal by the end of this month.

If all this is true then it doesn’t matter whether Rafa signs the new deal for Ashley or not.

In fact, we don’t think he will sign the deal.

Then the question is what happens if the takeover is not complete by the end of June when Rafa could become a free agent.

This terrible situation at Newcastle hinges on the club being sold – and presumably to Sheikh Khaled – and quickly too.

But Ashley is the wild card here – he could try to slow the deal down since past experience has shown he’s a difficult man to deal with.

And the local papers’ response to the Sun story yesterday was to say that Ashley is still talking to two other potential buyers.

The longer this goes the worse it will be for Newcastle and not a rod about the takeover from Newcastle in a long three weeks..

And we also know Ashley doesn’t care at all for Newcastle or the fans.

He wants is the £350M for the club – but as we said he can do strange and illogical things at any time.

That’s the worry about this current situation – Mike Ashey.

We all just have to hope that Sheikh Khaled has the patience of a saint.

It seems only Ashley can ruin this now.

It’s evident there is no plan B at all, in fact I question whether there is even a plan A. Seems to me that it’s a case of takeover or catastrophe, keep the faith.

The Northern Echo says nothing new.

The deadlock is still ongoing? You mean, the deadlock story that you are running with is still ongoing as we still are yet to hear anything from either side.

    There is no deadlock.

All involved know exactly where they stand.

Continuing to call it a deadlock to add some more drama to the stories is laughable guesswork based on nothing except to keep dragging on the story so to print more stories.

Agreed tramp. They have nothing to go 9m so spin the same stuff in different ways for clicks. All quiet good for me.

Ever since the BZG statement I’ve been very happy to sit and wait. It takes time. No comments from eother side except the “all good” from BZG side, says all I need to know.

The media do not have a clue.

    This is happening.

There’s no worry about Rafa or the takeover. Could Ashley still pull the plug? I guess it’s possible but we won’t even know that until either side makes an announcement and so in the mean time, life goes on and there’s absolutely nothing to worry about, no drama at all.

The season ended May 12 and it is June 17 today. That is 5 weeks. What has Rafa been doing? You would think one of the papers would at least tell us that. Has he been on a 5 week holiday or is he getting on with the job of preparing for the new season?

All we know is that he was in for 2 hours last Monday.

Nobody knows what rafa and players in and out are going on in background. If anyone is sold that Will be a sign. But no. So I’m happy. As always Ashley is the only doubt. But I think it’s too far down the tracks now.

Even though it’s frustrating I totally understand why hardly anything is being said by either side , if non disclosure has been agreed then obviously you have to stick to it . I like everyone else read every story going but really I don’t expect to find anything new .all stories about transfers and contracts are bollox until the takeover happens
