Portuguese newspaper O Jogo are reporting today that Newcastle are interested in signing Nemanja Gudelj from Guangzhou Evergrande.
Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club is a professional Chinese football club that plays in the Chinese Super League.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has played for Serbia 22 times and was born in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia.
In August of last year, the former Ajax player was loaned out to Sporting Lisbon for last season when he played 43 times in all competitions with one goal and one assist.

His contract with his Chinese club runs out at the end of the month so he will become a free agent at that time.
Real Betis, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray are also reported to be keen on the player, and Sporting Lisbon believe they will not be able to compete with those clubs for wages and a signing-on fee for the player.
The player makes a massive €5M (£4.5M) net in wages at the Chinese club (how ridiculous), so he would be looking for big wages elsewhere.
However, he may not get them at Newcastle.
He would need to decide if he wants to make as much money as possible in football or become a top player at Newcastle under our world-class manager Rafa Benitez.
Sometimes both are even possible.
Rafa wants players who want to improve as much as possible if he signs them for Newcastle.
