UAE Reporter In Contact With BZG – Takeover Silence Is Key – Deal Not Far Away

The Shields Gazette interviewed Dubai resident and Geordie Peter Redding a day or two ago.

Peter works for Capital Radio out in the United Arab Emirates and provided some much-wanted insight into BZG and Sheikh Khaled.

Redding has been a radio and TV sports presenter, and pundit for more than a decade now.

This is some of the insight Peter Redding gave to the Gazette during the Q and A  interview.

“Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nehayan is a well-respected business pioneer of the UAE, of that there is no doubt.”

“A little look at his CV shows how qualified the man is – he is a graduate of Boston University, and he has completed his Ph.D. course work in finance from Michigan State University.”

“He is the chairman and founder of the Bin Zayed Group – established in 1988.”

“Given his wealth you only have to look at the company’s trading and profits.”

“Here in the UAE local business people do not speak of wealth it is known as Haram (forbidden in Islamic law).”

“But it is definitely safe to say he is a serious player.”

“As far as a deal currently – I think the silence is key. And that can definitely be seen as a positive.”

“I have open contact with BZG and, speaking to them, I feel a deal to buy Newcastle United is not far away.”

“Knowing the culture of the UAE and being involved in sport, this is no smokescreen as viewed by many back in the UK.”

“This group are the real deal.”

“I think the BZG group are looking to replicate foreign ownership from the likes of Man City and PSG.”

“While I don’t think that kind of wealth is an option I can see this being huge for Newcastle United.”

That’s very good (and positive) information from Peter Redding.

If we only read what BZG have said things seem (very) positive.

But it’s the club’s leaked information to the Chronicle that has confused things, with Mike Ashley still saying he has yet to receive a formal offer from BZG.

This needs to be sorted out and sooner rather than later.

But we’ve been saying that for nearly four weeks now.

And time marches on.

Comments welcome.

How many times have I heard this same story. It’s always deal is not far. Soon as everybody starting losing faith in the fakeover they release more of the same crap. How many times are you all gonna fall for it????

Rotunda heights, hello mate. Was it you that posted the command line to view all activity on the blog by a specific poster a few weeks ago? I seemed to remember it was, but might be completely wrong.

Ashley always moving the goals posts in the last minute means a deal is always close but never succeeds. Almost doesn’t count. I’m not interested in hearing this same story. Official takeover or nothing!

On a cricket note. Steve harmison has had a nightmare on talk sport. Basicly said if Rafa walks fans wouldn’t forgive him. He’s getting pelters on Twitter. Is he on KBA books

Steve Harmison talking guff on the radio, according to the Chronicle. Actually says NUFC fans would not forgive Rafa if he ends up leaving at the end of his contract. Also wouldn’t forgive Ashley, but that’s not the point….

    C-Dog from previous

There isn’t really much ill will toward Morgan from Ireland, he has always said he wanted to play for England and when it comes to cricket you can’t really blame him. It just goes to show how ambitious he is. Cricket isn’t exactly a top sport in Ireland, it’s probably as popular as Aussie Rules or Equestrian

If the deal was dead or Mikey was messing them about BZG would have said so publicly, would be too damaging for the credibility not to out him ASAP. Like the article said silence is golden. To us MA is the big bad wolf but Khaled has been dealing with his like for decades and my guess is it’s quite the opposite and Mike is bending over backwards to accomodate hoping for future dealings in the UAE. Probably the twisted web of companies and sub companies he has used to (legally) funnel the club’s money through is taking quite a bit of untangling which is causing the delay (Strawberry delisted then relisted points to that kind of work) Keep the faith, good times are coming

I’ve always liked the guy, never heard anyone say a bad word against him. Not like he’s not used to being in front of a microphone so you can’t really blame nerves. Odd thing to say, for sure. Rafa’s completely blameless in this process, whatever the outcome.

Good on wor Peter. Let’s rustle up some more Dubai residents.

If these people are for real, they must be regretting jumping the gun so quickly.

TBH, I would’ve hoped for a little more investigative reporting (not from you Ed). I understand the clause, but surely a lowly FA officer, a secretary, someone indirectly involved (other than ‘I guess this is legit Pete’) would know something, on condition of anonymity.

My concern is, if these people were such money bags, by now they would have whipped out a couple of accounts with a couple bil in loose change. It feels that they’re scraping a little.

Anyway, patience. Here’s hoping it will be wrapped up soon and we’ll be swimming in what we expect.

For what it’s worth (and I hasten to add) I know nothing or anyone who does, I actually think it’s happening this time and we’re in for much happier times ahead. All the little signs point to something positive going on and the only real negative is that we’re dealing with MA, who seems to have the ability to make things difficult for everyone he ever does business with. The man’s a bloody nightmare and I wish we’d never heard of him.

In the meantime and on a positive football note- the new season isn’t too faraway and VAR is upon us. What’s the collective blog thoughts on this?

I think they (the authorities) have to lay down some VERY clear rules about its use. For one thing, if a goal is scored 4 or 5 passes after a possible foul, then the foul MUST be ignored, it’s the refs job to rule on in play incidents and if he’s allowed play to continue, then CAN’T go back and change it like they did against England last week. That was just bloody ridiculous!!

Any other thoughts? – Something to discuss while we wait?

You would think the fact it’s the 8th time he’s sold us would be enough to cast doubt over any sale lie

But some people seem to not care about all of those lies and fake sales for decades
Are happy to think the NDAs are somehow stopping news getting out even though they know about the pretend NDAs

Mixed with the usual bunch of made up crap that’s becoming part of every fakeover

I’ve come to the conclusion it’s all a scam (hope I’m proven wrong) fake over , it’s designed to keep the “Rafa singing a new contract” concerns at bay.
Come the beginning of next season, new manager same MA budget football.
But it ain’t all to bad SJP will still be full.

Thing is , St James Park won’t be full

I don’t think it sold out once last year ?

Can you remember the terrible run we went on last year ? Huge crowd unrest

Then lots of protesting and lots of online stuff / abuse

That was with Rafa in charge

If this goes belly up , we will struggle all season

Mini revolt with players leaving as the club have no ambition

    Fan unrest

    Crowds around 46/47 thousand

Then I think we will see some major unrest , I think Ashley will get attacked (and his shops will)

I don’t condone this , but i believe it will happen

He is under estimating how bad this will get
