Did Mike Ashley Try To One Up Rafa Benitez?

It appears as though, in the classiest of fashions that only Mike Ashley can produce, Rafa Benitez was not aware of the announcement given by Newcastle United this morning of the end of his tenure.

Here are some tweets doing the rounds on Twitter at the moment:

If Mike Ashley got upset at Rafa and sent out the announcement when Rafa Benitez was still expecting further negotiations, then the situation at Newcastle is even worse than we thought. And we didn’t think that was possible.

In an interview earlier this morning, Luke Edwards of the Telegraph reported that Rafa Benitez was refusing to come in and Mike Ashley was resigned to the fact that Benitez would leave.

However, it may be that Mike Ashley was frustrated with Rafa’s negotiating tactics and thus, out of spite hastily released the statement this morning.

If that is actually the case and Rafa Benitez has been prematurely let go by Mike Ashley while there was still hope of him staying; then Mike Ashley is a bigger wretch than we thought he was. And we didn’t think that was possible.

Totally expected most of the reactions from you but wanted to share despite thinking and telling myself it was pointless. Whatever will be, will be.

Surely this means even bigger news by the end of the month. Ashley next to leave.

New ownership wants a clean slate and a new manager. My guess, it’s Mourinho.

Amerimag – why is that the ONLY logical explanation? Another explanation could be that Ashley is either too stupid to plan for Rafa walking away or too arrogant to think that he really would walk out.

The whole takeover thing isn’t set in stone. It’s all tweets, news articles and hearsay. I pray to Tarvu that it happens, I really do, but it’s absolutely not guaranteed. Come July 1st, there could be a lot of disappointed fans, myself included.

Like ive posted before i dont deal in bullshit. I just keep hoping that something is going on behind the scenes rather than the imagination of Ashley still being here and god knows who as manager.

There are no ITK’s, it’s all guesswork. The only thing that is certain is Ashley will appoint whomever he wants without giving a single flying **** for what anyone else thinks , least of all the season ticket holders and fans of our beloved club.

Allan Saint-Maximin close to agreeing personal terms with Newcastle
Nice-Matin report that OGC Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin is close to agreeing personal terms with Premier League side Newcastle United over a possible summer transfer.

Although fee negotiations are not believed to have begun yet, Nice are expected to demand €30m for the player. The Magpies are said to be willing to put €25m on the table.

Whilst “ASM” had hoped to join a top club a few months ago, his ambitions have been slightly rejigged owing to the lack of top level interest.

Or is it with BZG perhaps?

Luke Edwards is a bit of a tw@t, reading his last couple of articles. Both make mention of Rafa not being entirely blameless in this situation. Total shill. And for all his crowing he had the inside scoop today’s blindside of an announcement shows again that NONE of the journos have a clue what’s happening.

I still think the BZG takeover is coming but Rafa isn’t the man they want at the helm. Too much noise about ‘the special one’ recently and the fact he’s even told people he’d consider it if the Sheikh took charge was pretty much an open message in the papers saying ‘come and get me if you want me’. Mental. I’d have Rafa any day of the week.

Still odd that Allan Saint-Maximin has been linked out of nowhere, a player JM spoke positively about only 5 days ago…

This is Ashley. Flicking the V at that meal was intentional. @geordiedentist said once he offered a ex SD director who was on the board at the time a lift in his helicopter. When said director got to the helipad it was taking off and Ashley was flicking the V at him. He’s a petty horrid man. He once put the price up by £100m just because someone was late for a meeting. He’s a narcissistic egomanic. In the Midlands some fans would have got the heavies round to influence his decisions but guess that doesn’t happen north of the border. Cant reason with this guy as a professional business. He has to have some weakness.

Have no idea I mate. I assumed with the club. Got told something was in the pipeline whatever that means i dont know. Also was told should have answers tomorrow night. If we do or we dont have answers i have no idea. Like some have said its just passing info. With the mood im in and all you are i dont believe anything will come of anything anymore. But there is a nagging feeling something is going whether its good or bad something doesnt sit right.

Luke Edwaeds also said Rafa refused meetings last week and terse emails were exchanged. If true, seems like today’s announcement was a bit of a childish knee jerk reaction from Ashley. I’m sure this is the way contract negotiations are carried out at all clubs. Nothing to see here.

When push comes to shove you just have to conclude that the man is just an awful human being and the very worst face of the exploitative and despicable modern version of moneylust capitalism. Screws his employees and his customers whether they be SD workers or shearer or Keegan or Benítez. A bitter egotistical megalomaniac.

I should be busy putting together my FF football spreadsheet which has so far had me input every player of every team bar the three promoted ones, their total score from last season and their minutes played, I’m a couple of teams in to inputting every players main position and secondary ones, I have completely lost interest and don’t know if I’ve got the stomach to do a season of FF 🙁
