As we would expect with such a beloved manager as Rafa Benitez, many players have shared their gratitude on Twitter to their now former manager.
Argentinian central defender Federico Fernandez however has gone a little bit further in his support of Rafa Benitez. This what Ferndandez has just tweeted:
Thanks Rafa. I think you and the staff deserve different way to end your time as a Newcastle manager. All the people around Newcastle love you. All the best for the future. pic.twitter.com/BgNffviK62
— Fede Fernandez (@pajarofernandez) June 24, 2019
This about sums up the feeling of the Newcastle fan base and really any football fan with a love of the game. What has happened to Rafa Benitez is just not right. Plain and simple. Rafa and, by extension the game of football, has been wronged by a despicable man.
Fernandez, no doubt, is expressing the sentiments of many players today. Rafa Benitez has been treated like an expendable bit of rubbish by this owner. He did not deserve this.
Who in their right mind would come to this club at the moment-player or manager? The only solution is the end of Mike Ashley’s control of this club. We cannot more forward, or move at all, until he sells this club to never return.

Comment #1The big question is whether Rafa leaving will knock Paul Pogba off the back pages. Depends on if he put some new dance moves on Instagram.

Comment #2There isn’t a manager on the planet they could bring in that would compare to Rafa even pep wouldn’t be the same. I love the man more than any player who I ever saw play for Newcastle (except hatem ben arfa) We were such a shambles when he took over and he turned us into one of the best defences in the premiership with a crap squad. I’ve no doubt had he been given money he would have greatly improved our attack as well. He did it all without making any noise or complaints. Just a genius at managing a football club, he’s so underrated by the rest of the footballing world.

Clasol- good post. It’s great to see new NUFC fans and it’s great that your son is also a fan now. But sadly this is the worst time to be a NUFC fan since I’ve been one a good 25 years or so, AshLie is by far the worst I’ve seen and is destroying the soul of the club I fell in love with.
Maybe just maybe BZG buy the oaf out and Mourinho comes in as manager and we see some stellar signings and good times again. For every fans sake I bloody hope so, if not we’re doomed.

If Ashley doesn’t go we’re nailed on for relegation next year.
The club MUST be about to be sold, it has to be Ashley’s last chance to sell before he completely screws the club beyond repair. It wont survive another relegation!!
The whole mess will come down like a house of cards in the next 6 months if he remains owner.
O what fun we didn’t have.
I’m going to sports direct to take a shit in some tracksuit bottoms then hang them back up

Comment #13Why have ALL the backroom staff left too? Rafa’s team. Now I know the manager’s team normally follow the manager, but Rafa doesn’t have another job, so why would his backroom team walk as well?
I think we may have a new announcement in the coming days – yes slag me off for it but it just doesn’t make sense. The WHOLE of the first team coaching staff ALL gone?????
Who was it that said Jose was BZGs preferred manager again and that Rafa leaving might be the price to pay to get the fat twat out?

Comment #15The death knell has just been rung at S J P. This once great proud club has officially died. Prepare for a fire sale so FCB lines his pockets. How much for Almiron, Perez, Longstaff, Lejeune & Dubravka. The big six vultures are circling again.
Best of luck Rafa wherever you go.
Can someone find Ashley in a secure hospital for compulsive liars.
The managers association must tell all their members to keep well away from toxic ash at NUFC.
Nobody touch him with a barge pole unless they have found a suitable place to stick it!

Comment #18@OO – “If Ashley doesn’t go we’re nailed on for relegation next year.”
I think he knows that too, hence why I think he doesn’t care about the managers job; he won’t be hear to be hurt by it.
If we’re getting new owners and they’ve got a modern football philosophy, they’ll want to intall a Director of Football. Benitez wouldn’t work under those conditions. There was one guy though who made a big song and dance about how his former club weren’t set up propertly and needed a DoF…

Comment #21DubaiMicky – i’m with you bud. This all seems very sudden and bizarre. News this morning leaked that his backroom staff had all given up their leases on the homes they were renting and then the big announcement came. I am certain Ashley has taken the flak for our incoming owners as part of the sale agreement. And to piss off the fans who he loathes..

As I have previously said, it’s inconceivable that a prospective new owner would not have asked to see Rafa’s current and unsigned contract.
I suspect that if there is a change of ownership, the new lot whoever they may be didn’t want Rafa for whatever reason.

Comment #30JohnReese, bang on mate. Avram Grant was taken on as Director of Football with Jose Mourinho in charge of first team affairs.
Not sure how that would fit with Ben Dawson’s role as Academy Director, honestly, or what Mourinho’s opinion of Grant actually is. Mourinho is not a hands-on coach in the mould of Rafa. If a D of F was over his head, just what would his role be?
Grant is actually a very experienced football administrator, however, with many links to clubs, agents, players and coaches all over the World.
He’s also Israeli, not sure how that would sit with Arab owners. Might be judging things completely wrongly and no offence meant.

Comment #31You’re right Optimistic. If this sale does not go through Ashley has just wiped at least £200M off the valuation.
Perhaps the bidder will now turn his attentions to Blunderland. That would be a real sickener , wouldn’t it?

Comment #36The club has been a mess since Ashley walked through the door. Rafa was the only thing keeping it together, cirtainly from a fans prospective. MA has once again hit the self restruct button. This will affect the whole club including the players.
I can only hope the fans realise the are letting MA get away with the cancer he has caused.
Don’t renew season tickets and force him out.

It’s all been yet another cruel ploy by Ashley. If the club is not sold nobody in football will ever believe a single word that comes out of his gob ever again. Albeit most of us didn’t anyway!
