As we would expect with such a beloved manager as Rafa Benitez, many players have shared their gratitude on Twitter to their now former manager.
Argentinian central defender Federico Fernandez however has gone a little bit further in his support of Rafa Benitez. This what Ferndandez has just tweeted:
Thanks Rafa. I think you and the staff deserve different way to end your time as a Newcastle manager. All the people around Newcastle love you. All the best for the future. pic.twitter.com/BgNffviK62
— Fede Fernandez (@pajarofernandez) June 24, 2019
This about sums up the feeling of the Newcastle fan base and really any football fan with a love of the game. What has happened to Rafa Benitez is just not right. Plain and simple. Rafa and, by extension the game of football, has been wronged by a despicable man.
Fernandez, no doubt, is expressing the sentiments of many players today. Rafa Benitez has been treated like an expendable bit of rubbish by this owner. He did not deserve this.
Who in their right mind would come to this club at the moment-player or manager? The only solution is the end of Mike Ashley’s control of this club. We cannot more forward, or move at all, until he sells this club to never return.

Comment #85Ashley and his group of arse kissing arseholes again.. shits on the fans….any decent manager with any self respect will keep well clear of this club….as ashley and his goon squad are all shifty sods…any manager that comes in, will only be a half arsed light weight that’s struggled at other clubs looking for a big name to put on there c.v and a payout and wont give a shit…just like ashley….im hangin on the faintest of hopes that takeover is about to be announced and they didn’t want rafa for whatever reason….but i think im kidding myself tbh….players will soon be on move out and we will be cannon fodder for other premier league clubs with a relegation in 8 mth time…..such a shame….ashley please just f**k off, u’ve had ya fun and took the piss…and brought a nation of geordies to its knees….now please just sell up and p*ss off.

Comment #87There simply has to be a boycott of the Arsenal game if we’re not taken over, let everyone turn up and stand outside for the SKY cameras to see, so what he’s already got the ticket money, it’s not about hitting his pocket it’s about making a visual statement so the footballing world know exactly how we feel.

You’ve probably just woken up in your part of the world as I’d posted the same shared comments a few times this morning about all Rafa’s coaches being sacked at the same time as Rafa’s contract expires.
Surprise that hardly anyone is following up on this angle, thee and me excepted.
Can’t believe that they all the coaches had contracts that were in sync with Rafa’s contract.
Are they all going to China with him as ‘team Rafa’ ?
They haven’t all just resigned – they must have been sacked.
Why aren’t the Journalists asking them for their story ?
If sacked has Ashley agreed compo for them – probably in return for the evil NDA.
But in any case Rafa won’t have a NDA so he can talk – after 1st July bu will the impact of that be diluted by other new announcements ?
Does it clear the books of all their salaries and costs by the financial year end and lower the assets of the club/company on the books in line with a deal to sell price ? Likewise no added costs in signing up Rondon.
It smacks of Accountants at work as much as the less than illustrious one.
More to come on this.

Comment #91Are people still thinking that a boycott isn’t the right way to go? I’ve been seeing this disaster coming for years now and I have advocated for a boycott. I wish I could be a part of it. It will be the only thing to force Ashley out unless this takeover goes through. Expect more of what we were exposed to pre-Rafa if Ashley stays. Dancing near the bottom of the table with a poor manager and no hope.

Comment #93Slightly off topic but read the stat of Benitez in the transfer market with us. Net profit of £11m after 3 seasons!!
But Charnley told us when the accounts came up that past 2 seasons we have spent 109m (£35m budget each season and £50m made from player sales) and have £11m to carry forward.
Where exactly have we spent that amount, Rafa never saw it?

Do you think folk on here ,no matter how sincere they are ,are going to effect a boycott of Arsenal by simply saying it has to happen. You know better than that.
I no longer have anything against such a protest as long as it’s part of wider action but no group has yet successfully co-ordinated mass action. If this and no sale doesn’t galvanise widespread calls forhow to join action I don’t know what will
Anyone at tonight’s protest? SSN aren’t apparently covering it Keith Downie in Algarve obviuolsy took them by surprise as well?

Comment #102NUFC.com say a takeover is at least 6 weeks away if it happens at all. How do they know this? They don’t usually comment without a solid source. Six more weeks takes us into August and near the transfer deadline. This could be yet another disaster. And Ashley will be the one to appoint an interim manager.

And who is paying ?

Comment #106Even for Ashley this is amazingly stupid. No manager with training camp a week away? And he thinks he will get someone decent enough to keep us up in this state does he? It does indeed look like Gary Monk time with a very limited transfer budget and no hope of improving the squad. We’ll be lucky not to lose a few as well. All Rafa’s good work down the toilet. Sad days continue.

Comment #118I have some information to share.
As some may know ive mentioned I have family member who works closely to Ashley. I reached out about the takeover and posted what he said. With what happened today i thought id txt him see if he knew anything. I txted him something along the lines of with the announcement of Rafa leaving today is there any news on the takeover? will it still happen? He txted me back “big meeting tomorrow you should know by tomorrow night”. I said what meeting? he replied “with Rafa”. So i said why a meeting with Rafa the club announced he has left the club? he said “despite the club announcement Rafa is still contracted till 30th of july, there is something in the pipeline, i guess we will see”. He finished by saying they are really secretive about this stuff but if he finds anything out or hears anything he will let me know.
You can believe me about this information or not but to be fair its nothing about takeover or anything 100% just something i guessed and some others that something is still going on behind the scenes.

Comment #119Whoever Ashley gets or any new owners bring has one big problem. They’re not Rafa. He believed in Newcastle. He saw our potential and understood what it was capable of achieving. A manager of his professional stature stayed with us into relegation and fought his way back up. Through years of Ashley chaos he kept calm and focused. He was the glue that held fans and a dysfunctional club from completely sundering. He was far more than just a manager. Life goes on, I know (if it can be called life under Ashley) but Rafa is going to be missed. Such a shame and so completely unneccessary.
