Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez have tweeted in the wake of the news that Rafa Benitez has left Newcastle United. A stunning development that also must mean Rondon will not be a Magpie next season and could likely see Ayoze Perez looking for the exit.
This is what Rondon has just tweeted:
I must say that @rafabenitezweb deserves huge credit for what our team achieved last season, and I'm sure he'll have success in his next job. All the best, gaffer! pic.twitter.com/nFwgXbUtB9
— Salomón Rondón (@salorondon23) June 24, 2019
In what will most likely be his lone season as a Newcastle United player, Rondon made 32 appearances and scored 12 goals. He is a class person who we wish we could have seen more of as a Newcastle number nine. It was his permanent transfer that was also likely one of the sticking points that has led to this disaster.
Ayoze Perez also tweeted his gratitude to his compatriot:
Gracias @rafabenitezweb por estos años, mucha suerte en tus nuevos proyectos! Eres un mister ?
Thank you Rafa for all these years at Newcastle and good luck in the future! You are a ? manager pic.twitter.com/pzVQ6voRw7
— Ayoze Perez (@AyozePG) June 24, 2019
It will be interesting to see what develops for Ayoze Perez. He was starting to flourish under the tutelage of Rafa and is now a prized target for some top clubs.
It is interesting to see that Ayoze proclaims the Rafa Benitez is a “top manager.” Perez will likely not want to remain at Newcastle under Mike Ashley who prefers not to have top managers run the club.

Comment #1Worst thing is we have allowed this to happen.
From us not forcing ashley out earlier weve lost Rafa.
Honestly when are we all going to stop sitting on here and actually go and do something about it.
All of us need to get ashley out.
Thats it. No ifs no buts now. No support the team not the regime.
Sadly supporting the toon is supporting ashley.

Comment #5As far as I can tell Dalian Yiflang currently have a manager Choi Kang-Hee – perhaps someone can ask him if he knows he’s about to be replaced by Rafa and three Spanish coaches.
The Chinese like a bet.
So does Ashley.
FIFA like to check on what’s going on ?

Comment #6@ Lochinvar Rafa will go to China for three years, he will make shed loads of money. He will then go back home and buy Tranmere Rovers and will become owner/ manager and continue to live in the area. This has always been his intention.

Comment #12So MA decided to go on holiday instead of bothering to try and sort out Rafas contract, or to sell us
Its what he usually does isnt it,go on holiday
So he will probably drag Monk in as the new manager
A whole bunch of players will leave, to be replaced with cheaper options
The profits plus the transfer budget buy us another shop
Rinse and repeat

Comment #14@chancel would be a fine thing
I understand where you are coming from and agree that people shouldn’t be turning on each other but you said his info has proved correct? Last week the deal was done he was sharing emails with a privileged few that the unconnected masses could not be allowed to see because the names of implicated parties would have to be redacted etc etc Now the tune has changed completely and we may have been played. The attitude that this kind of thing shouldn’t be questioned for fear of putting off the people who “share this knowledge” is bizarre to me, what has been shared that has been proved to be true?
Your exactly right about the fact that we are all hungry for information and my issue with this is that I think perhaps it’s a possibility that certain people exploit that fact. I still hope that a takeover goes through but if it doesn’t rather than saying thank you to anyone who assured me that it would with false information I will be calling them out, (which I would have though was the typical thing to do)

Comment #15there was one contract renewal offer to Rafa on same terms as last one, it was non negotiable so no reason for Ashley to delay holiday – it was simply sign or leave

Comment #25Well 22, you are looking correct so far. As for protest, Im afraid the fans have to mobilise now. The Geordies are not good at political protests but they need to be, assuming the BZG thing is rubbish. It now seems that not one journalists, bar the story breaker, supports it, and it looks like BZG were out to grab the limelight in what was a very early part of the process of buying a club. Hugely disappointed with them if this is the case but we live in hope.
But now the fans have to boycott. A crowd on 10000 at SJP when we play arsenal would be some statement. And please lets not argue abot supporting the team. We are going to be relegated so you might as well start making a statement. Who is going to the protest at 6pm tonight – will you get more than 200 ??

Comment #26Just get it over with. Kick me in the nuts with hobnail boots. David Warner and Steve Smith to get centuries tomorrow just to make my week even worse. Although I fully expected Rafa to leave, I now have the feeling he isn’t coming back. I was convinced the China stuff was just paper talk and now I am not so sure.

Comment #33Called this last season, despite finishing 10th said this season just gone will be his last. With Mike Ashley, hope has been crushed somewhat but it makes it easier to think more logically and without emotion. Being right though hasn’t actually prepared me for how I am feeling right now though.
As for a takeover? I got these magic beans to sell you. He’s not selling the club man. If he wanted to sell as he desperately wants to as reported by few people, someone like BZG come and just snap it up.
So many mixed messages over the years, he wants to sell, he doesn’t want to sell, club on sale, not on sale for any price, not until we win something.

Comment #35This is a very, very sad and significant day for our club. Whether or not there is a takeover which seems unlikely now at least in the immediate future, Rafa Benitez will be almost impossible to replace.
The fact that he connected with the club, the fans and the city and managed to give us a glimmer of hope that things may improve, even when under Ashley it was a forlorn hope, means that his shoes will probably never be properly filled.
He handled his position with the utmost dignity and professionalism and despite realising he was probably never going to achieve much with Ashley at the helm he remained positive throughout.
There are very few people never mind football managers with his integrity and he will be sorely missed.
