Craig Hope – Sean Dyche and Mikel Arteta Are Being Considered For Newcastle Job

Craig Hope has written for the Daily Mail that both Burnley manager Sean Dyche and Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta are being considered as Rafa Benitez’s successor.

While Mikel Arteta has yet to be tested as a manger, he has been an assistant to Pep Guardiola since 2016 alongside Brian Kidd (who I met through my father in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as a child in 1983).

Sean Dyche has, of course, done extremely well at Burnley where he was appointed manager in 2012. He previously had managed Watford for a brief period before being let go by a new owner.

Sean Dyche– prior to Rafa, we would have welcomed him with open arms

While Sean Dyche has done notably well at Burnley, keeping them in the Premier League and even achieving a seventh place finish in 2018, we just aren’t as excited about him as we would have been in the time before Rafa.

This is the problem that will face Mike Ashley, Lee Charnley, and any new manager that is appointed. When compared to Rafa Benitez, you can’t help but contort one side of your face into the universal look of apprehension. It’s the law of physics.

To be fair, we have always respected Sean. He has done well with limited resources at Burnley where he has a 38% win percentage over 306 matches between the Premier League and the Championship.

Mikel Arteta– could be good but who knows?

Mikel Arteta is an interesting candidate in that you don’t really know what you are getting. He could become very successful as he has been an apprentice under world class manager Pep Guardiola.

Or he could be John Carver who despite being an assistant to Bobby Robson, we still somehow managed to produce the tail end of 2015. You just never know.

Though, Vincent Kompany seems to think that Arteta is made of the right stuff to succeed Pep at Manchester City. This is what he said when taking the helm at Anderlecht and asked if he could ever manage Manchester City:

“Let me start with this. Let City be City under Pep, which is an awesome club.

“And behind Pep there is Mikel Arteta, who has a lot of knowledge and is the right man to look at.”

At this point, we are still pining for Rafa Benitez. Anyone else is just not to our liking.

As I understand it, Newcastle’s next boss will be allowed to bring one assistant/coach but will not have control of transfers.

As well appoint Dennis wise as Head coach and be done with it.

    Neil and Dr Harrison

My dad and I were talking about that today. He thought it could happen but Pete Graves’ tweets put him off the idea. I still think it can happen. Rafa wants to coach this club. Though he did remove Newcastle from his Twitter profile.

Hope springs eternal and it’s the hope that kills.

We still have hope in that on his insta he still has it proudly as @nufc manager
looking at the timelines more as to when this was annouced it wouldnt have put it past ashley to have got completely bladdered in some down town shebeen stateside and yelled into his phone(scar face style) at charnley /keith to send the tweet ?
the brinkmanship aspect of these of course to bring things back is to find a resolution where neither side loses face .tough ask .
I still cling to some hope theirs more to come as nufc without rafa still does not bear thinking about

Just remember how laurent blanc was blatantly tapping up cabaye at every opportunity at psg though .
Cabs wasn’t an angel but mid season it ensured (with ashleys help) that our season was over by Feb once more .

Worry not, you’ll not be a lone voice much longer.

Did I hear what seemed to be young, constrained giggling in the background as ‘Midhat’ was speaking in the Whatsapp call that was posted a few hours ago?

Of course it could have been his son or daughter in the background.

lesh, that wasn’t a call, it was a Whatsapp voice message, where you record and then send it. As he was recording the playback on an external device, then the background giggling could well have been his friends.

That recording is an interesting one, says something like “You haven’t done your homework on me, I was born in London” or similar. That’s not an obvious thing for a fraudster (ie fake recording) to say.

I must say i am still a bit sceptical about all this, but hey ho, you never know.

BZG & Jose will stay in my subconscious as dream scenario number two, not quite the wet dream of scenario number one but infinitely better than the nightmare of no BZG!

Anyone who attend any matches whilst this man still owns the club is part of the problem in
    my eyes.

This man needs to be embarrassed with his cheap sh@t company logo all over an empty stadium every other week, with news reporters turning up to show the world its empty and match of the day mocking him every Saturday night.

People may not think it will make a difference but 20000 pies unsold and 100000 pints not sold as well as no sales in the club shop or programmes sold will start to hit his pocket more than you know.

Is it not about time we treat him with the contempt he has treat us?

Lesh, With whatsapp, facebook messanger, and the like; you can send text/video/audio messages and make audio/video calls. On the app, your previous communications with a particular person (whatever the format) are shown, much like the text messages on your phone. Hope that helps. For example, recoring an audio message is much quicker than typing, at least for me it is.

Not sure why people are expecting Rafa to come out and start slagging off Ashley , it’s hardly his style and he’s never done it at previous clubs despite getting rough treatment at Real Madrid etc.

BZG have been in the f.a fit and proper test since April , May or early June !!! Get a grip man, even the snail like fa aren’t that slow – we’ve all been taken for mugs by kba , we simply won’t be buying anyone this transfer window – kba putting names out of 20 – 40 million players we’re interested in, rofl you couldn’t make it up …oh, hold on

Posted to Essex last night about Shepherd appointing Alladyce then club taken over by Ashley within weeks.

He was on thin ice it seemed from then but was supported and wasted some money.

Now we have !inks to likes of Sean Dyche which initially made me think of parallels if he is appointed and we are then sold in next few months.

That took me on though to the general thought that with a reported sale still hanging unresolved over club and you are one of the shortlisted ones do you ask for reassurances? Do you stay clear? Do you care? Do you have faith that you are so good you will be kept on whatever? I am sure a self confident Alladyce even knowing about prospective sale would have made the same decision anyway.

So what are we realistically looking at whilst in this turmoil?

It’s hard to see even if Ashley wants a decent manager that good candidates won’t be concerned at what they were walking into let alone the usual Ashley restrictions.

So no Rafa Uturn yet 🙁

Mindshaft, Re the owners test dates. There was an interesting tweet yesterday, with someone claiming they that a BZG source told them that all the relevent paperwork was sent to Ashley’s lawyers for the test to be started on the assumption that they would pass this on to the fa/premier league (which they did not). BZG eventually discoverd this and sent the paperwork directly themselves. BZG not impressed with the lack of assistance in this process. Just passing on something. Obviously you’ll call it bullshit, lol.

Arteta and Dyce are both under contract and Ashley won’t sanction pay off deals for either.
You can bet that Arteta has a very healthy deal at City and Ashley certainly won’t want to deal with their owners as he’ll feel oh so inferior to them.

Look for an out of work and cheaper than Rafa manager who will have an inferiority complex from day one. Imagine no flags with your name on.

Ashley will be thinking he’s saved £6m plus by not signing up Rafa and avoided his demands for higher wage structures for higher value transfer target players. Phew that was a close call.
New Manager on £500,000 should cover it.

Ashley started the fire but like Nero in Rome he’s fiddling away.

    Just for you Joe Sophistication,
What I’ve been trying to say but not anywhere near articulate enough. From golas bring smiles
    Bill’s Son

It’s not about lecturing I was just curious to see if you’d admit you were wrong. But it seems that is a stretch for an ego such as yours. They say humility comes with age but, clearly not. Arguably your past opinions are part of the reason we are still stuck with Ashley. It’s people like you who vehemently defended his actions and (even now it seems, play down his crimes against not only our beloved club but also our city) who regurgitated his rhetoric and spread his toxic lies amongst younger fans who resisted solidarity and mass action against him and thus perpetuated his grip upon our club. Then now you go on a complete tangent to bestow your wisdom upon us about past regimes as if you’ve had it worse than us young uns so we have no right to complain. Same old Belittling Bill and his condescension. Change the record. I don’t know what I find more annoying, your nonsensical opinions or the tone in which you impart them to all and sundry. Sad thing is your knowledge could probably be quite useful if only it could get past your pig-headed self-fellatory pride before leaving your gob.

I honestly have no idea why you are rambling on about past owners, nobody has said this is the worst ownership in the history of NUFC, nobody is claiming previous owners were saintly. People have a right to be frustrated with the current regime regardless of what has happened in previous eras. This is a wholly different situation with a different set of circumstances and context. I don’t consider Hall and Shepherd saintly but the stadium was hugely modernised and expanded under them and the club was put back on the map. Fans travelled Europe watching our team and neutrals spurred on our host of international talent. They brought Bobby home too so your sly digs seem hypocritical and pointless. Comparing Rafa’s sacking with Bobby’s is also pointless but I’d say both pale in comparison with Ma’s treatment of footballing and club legends KK and Alan Shearer. Perhaps you’ll have something negative to say about them two too. Wouldn’t surprise me, you were always the true ‘negger’ Bill’s Son, cynical, toxic and singularly arrogant until the end. I almost feel like applauding you on somehow retaining your twatful attitude despite what must have been a humbling deterioration of your wilful ignorance toward Ashley. Only 3 years ago… i do wonder, what epiphany suddenly enlightened you to our owners contempt for our club? I’d find it astonishing if you believed that everything that happened before that moment 3 years ago was fair play by him and that something occurred to awaken you. No. His crimes were far long before that and you defended them, passionately and with sincerity. You sir, are an absolute tit and you owe the rest of us an apology.

5 or 6 players considering their futures, Rondon certainly won’t be back now.

Offer for club allegedly £350m, what will it be worth in the championship? Half? A third?

I hold out hope, but it’s as thin as our chance of winning something.
