Is Mike Ashley About To Pull The Plug On Takeover?

There is a report in the Daily Star about Mike Ashley has put a two-week deadline on any proposed takeover.

This revelation comes from journalist Duncan Castles when speaking on The Transfer Window podcast.

This is what Castles has said on the matter:

“What I’ve been told is that Ashley himself has put a deadline on these discussions about a takeover for this summer and that he wants a decision one way or the other inside the next two weeks.

“Why? Because if a takeover is not going to take place, and I think the fact that a deadline is being placed on discussions suggests that none of these offers are as near to the line as they have been presented as being, if that deadline has been put in place it’s because Ashley realises if you don’t have a buyer as we get closer and closer to the edge of the transfer window, you have a problem.

“And if he doesn’t have a buyer, he’s going to have to manage the club going into next season.

“That deadline that I’ve been told of would give him about a month before the transfer window closes, in which to buy and sell players for Newcastle for next season and to sort out the issue of manager.”

“And it’s not the main thing in his life by any stretch of the imagination, so he can afford to wait.

It just goes from bad to worse. It’s looking like we have gone from the lofty prospects of Sheikh Khaled and Rafa down to Mike Ashley and (insert inferior manager’s name here).

However, with Mike Ashley’s proclivity for deceit, we can’t rule out that this two-week deadline would have something to do with stringing season ticket holders along until the renewal period has passed.

The mere inclination that Mike Ashley would be at all bothered about having enough time for transfer activity is beyond a laugh.

He has never taken proper preparation for a football season into account before and he will not do it now.

This takeover is all we really have to cling to. We used to have Rafa Benitez but Mike Ashley has taken him from us.

Next, it will be Sean Longstaff, Fabian Schar, Martin Dubravka, and Ayoze Perez.

Mike Ashley does not care about the damage he has wrought on this club. As Duncan Castles even alludes to in his statements:

“And it’s not the main thing in his life by any stretch of the imagination, so he can afford to wait.

Well, it is one of the main things in the lives of Newcastle United supporters.

Our club and our very passions are a game to Mike Ashley. A twisted game that he only toys with when he can be bothered.

Hmm I still dont think bambams or this report are correct. Ashley hasn’t spoken out at all, so why would he suddenly get in touch with Duncan Castles of the daily star? Smells of desperate reporting to me.

Bambams, appreciate the info mate but can’t see funds being the case in my eyes. Just my opinion though.

I hope this is the case fella, I really do.

Ash cannot be trusted at all, its maybe his way of pissing the fans off just prior to it happening.

All I can say is, the person this has come from, all of you will have seen them alongside, sat beside, walking with Ash and Charnley.

They have been within the club over 15 years.

But it could be Ash being a tw@t…

I agree this cannot be down to funds !!!!! Due diligence is only allowed once funds are proven !

Well that’s one relegation place filled.

Any player with any ability will be next.

We will get to see the academy lads given a shot though as we won’t have anything near a 25 man squad.

Page 1 of the fat parasite negotiation book.

Set a price, when that price is met, raise it and keep raising it until you sicken the bidder and they walk away.

    Page 2.

    See page and repeat.

That’s my thoughts, proof of funds must have been in place for this to move forward.

Maybe Ashley is happy to carve his own headstone, because if this falls out because he is impatient or hes moving the goal posts on this takeover then he best not set foot in the city again.

The fact Rafa has walked is bad enough and warrants a few shop windows through. But this would be suicide for the slug!

How are BZG supposed to finalise a takeover in two weeks when only yesterday reports were that the F&P test is some weeks if nit months away drom completion!??

Nothing since we finished the season has made any sense. This doesn’t happen and I am done with AshLie and his fking lies until he leaves.

He’ll be here until he’s utterly destroyed the club.

There will be a few small protests and lots of talk but he will just carry on regardless, backhanders to politicians and HMRC and all will be ok for him.

Sadly, it is looking increasingly likely that what a lot of us thought.

Genuine or not any takeover invited he will engineer a way to collapse it. For in many minds he has no interest in selling and just creates a media storm each year to proficate more advertising for his grubby empire.

I still have a a glimmer of hope of a takeover. Just like I dream of winning the lotto.

That will never happen in a million years. For fear of losing their season tickets. No one ever sticks together. They just like to have their moan and a few more pints then manage the club from the terraces.

Ashhole needs to be stopped. Its getting more and more likely the bid is real but Ash was just using it to burn time. Why do so many ppl think hes afraid of ppl like the Sheikh or any other powerful man, hes afraid of no one and doesn’t give a shit who he crosses, its laughable that ppl think if he crossed the Sheikh that hed ruin ash.

The man is a billionaire with a sports company thats one of the biggest in Europe. He can cross anyone and they probably wont ever make the slightest difference.

Anyone who pays a season ticket or who goes to matches from here on in is a complete and total selfish moron. ITS THE ONLY WAY WE AS SUPPORTERS CAN AFFECT HIM.

Just looking like business as usual, Ashley pretending he wants to sell then moving the goal posts and then blaming the potential buyer, and we all buy into it because we think no way would he pull this routine again, it would be beyond taking the mick…yet it looks very much like he is, it clearly doesnt bother him on any level aslong as he gets what he want, it is totaly ludicrous. This man needs putting down, i will genuinly be done with following the team properly if there is no sale this time, what he is doing should not be allowed.

If there is a takeover happening and papers are with the Premier League I fail to understand how Ashley can tell them how long their process should take.

And with regards to all these supporters groups who are responsible for previous movements against Ashley where are they now Rafa has been sacked?

The bottom line is Ashley was simply never serious about selling Newcastle in the first place even if these people were very keen to buy the club, ive been saying it for a long time he will never sell Newcastle as long as we are in the premier league as he is making millions on the back of Newcastle to fund his other business ventures and shops on the high street, when we go down probably this coming season, if we dont get promoted at the first attempt and stay in the chempionship for a couple of seasons he will sell up as we would no longer be of any benafit to him as its all about money and profit to him, money is his God as you all know, Toon22 has been totally correct all along but very few on this site wanted to listen to him.
