Portuguese Manager Has Expressed Interest In Joining Newcastle

Sky Sports is reporting Porto manager Sergio Conceicao as another manager that is interested in succeeding Rafa Benitez at Newcastle when his contract expires on June 30th.

The report has minimal details of his supposed interest with no quotes or sources so there may not be much to it. He is not out of a job so there may be something in this link.

Conceicao is a 44-year-old Portuguese manager who has been in charge of six clubs since first taking charge of third division Portuguese club Olhanense in 2012.

He has been the coach of Porto FC for the past two seasons winning the Super Liga title in 2018 and finishing second behind Benfica this past year.

Prior to that, he coached Nantes for half a season leading them out of the relegation zone before being appointed as the Porto boss.

The FC Nantes job was his only one outside of Portugal. While in France though, he surprisingly turned down the opportunity to replace Claudio Ranieri at Leicester City to remain with the French club.

He does seem to have something about him and we respect that he remained with Nantes in February 2017 after having just joined the club the prior December.

That shows a bit of loyalty and maybe he is now open to coming to the Premier League even though Porto is a top club in Portugal.

NY Mag, legal ways of avoiding tax is not good. I paid what was called supertax in the 1990s and was happy to do so because I was earning good money. Millionaires avoiding tax is in my opinion is morally criminal, especially when you look at the cuts in social services , etc brought about by banks who were chasing easy profits. Tax burden, give me a break, look on the streets of our city’s.

    Bill,

I wouldn’t disagree with you, but people who have enough money can employ the best accountants to figure out loopholes to reduce tax, that the way it’s always been.

I’m far,far from being a rich person, but I still have an accountant do my taxes for me each year so that I can maximize any return I get.

Good evening, Jib. Ed himself posted a link to my blog not that long ago as I was starting out and emailed him for advice. I stated that I read his blog everyday, which I still do, but only occasionally post replies. I’m not trying to take anyone away from this excellent blog; merely trying to provide some more NUFC-related material for anyone who is interested. Ed was very helpful in his reply to me and as I said, posted up a link on his blog.
