Does Chronicle Have New Update On Takeover Progress?

The Chronicle have tweeted out the following confirmation about the progression of the takeover of Newcastle United from the clawed clutches of current owner Mike Ashley:

We wonder if they have received an update from sources or if this is the same information tweeted earlier in the week by Justin Allen and Saj Chowdhury.

This “new” information could be taken negatively or positively depending on your disposition.

The fact that talks remain “ongoing” is positive for those who feel that the recent news of a two-week deadline was a grand declaration of a dying deal. The news that they are still negotiating and deal still remains a possibility means that a deal could finally be made.

However, the end of this tweet stating that “there is yet to be breakthrough in discussions” is quite concerning considering how far along this deal has been reported as being.

We have seen evidence of or read about holding companies (Monochrome Acquisition Ltd) being set up or closed, proof of funds being shown, and the FA’s Fit and Proper Persons test being performed.

Yet we are now being told there is yet to be a breakthrough in discussions. At some point, this rollercoaster will end and we can exit. Whether we are in a better place or a worse one is a toss up at the moment.

The players report for training on July 4th and we will most likely have Neil Redfearn take the training with them.

We are a Premier League club. Just doesn’t make any sense.

I know Midhat’s been known to reply to random strangers – but I’m sure even he would draw the line at Lee Ryder 🙂

Lee, Chrissie and Mark tweeted from the break room. Good coffee this, where did you get it? Sent the 5 full-time trainee reporters on a special assignment to see who could get the best brew and the fastest. Winner gets to ghost write Wor Lee’s 200 word article on Monday.

Great idea. How about one of them holds the camera and asks the questions for the podcast and then only one of us will have to turn up?

Hold on though, they might ask tough follow ups and we might have to do some research.

Nah man Lee, I personally interviewed all of these minimum wage clowns. Even you can keep up.

I’m sure the amount of investigative work it would take Ryder and co to find Midhats number off twitter or from a public document precludes him from that possibilty anyways

Have the Chronicle looked at other papers and decided that generally the takeover is still ongoing.

Unless they are talking about this blog. Technically discussions are ongoing about the takeover. They never stated who was discussing it

JP, we’re not only due some luck, we’re due what we deserve. We pump our money into the club and expect some kind of reciprocation. I’m busy bringing up the next generation of NUFC fans, feeding them on scraps of success, telling them why a 4-0 win away at Fulham is something to be celebrated, rather than something to be expected.

By doing that, I’m essentially guaranteeing the club revenue for another 50 years or more (hopefully more) They’ll then continue the narrative to their kids. At least they will if the club plays its part and gives them a reason to get behind it.

All they’ve known so far is a club that’s a bit sh!t, sometimes gets relegated, sometimes doesn’t but never achieves anything of note. There’s no coincidence in the fact that when we had the Entertainers under Keegan, we recruited fans from all over the World. We didn’t win anything, but there was a feelgood factor about the club which just isn’t there right now.

Luck is great, but we can’t count on that to sustain us. What we need is an owner who can take us places. Maybe we need luck to get that guy, realistically we just need the fat one to get over himself and get out of our club.

Sorry for the rant, mate – it’s not directed at you – just a bit frustrated at the moment, as we all are.

Was just catching up on all the comments from today and several people asking about the new football ownership bill in parliament (I know toon22 is quite excited about it).

It’s quite a good watch (starts from 13:03:52)

For the first time I’m now having serious doubts about BZG’s previous statements.

I won’t be popular, but I don’t buy into the conspiracy theory that Ashley doesn’t want to sell the club and is just going through the motions to pi$$ the fans off and make excuses for not spending on transfers.

This is a guy who has shown he doesn’t give two fcuks about what anyone thinks, from his employees, to us fans and Rafa, to his shareholders, the City or politicians. His skin is as thick as a rhino’s.

If he didn’t want to sell the club he wouldn’t muck around pretending to, he’s got more than enough brass balls to just stick around for as long as he likes.

Which brings me back to BZG…

There has now been more than enough time for the FA to do due diligence, yet there is not a peep from them or a whistleblower in the FA to say it’s even being considered. Add that to BZG apparently not providing proof of funds for their Liverpool bid, and Chronicle sources saying Ashley hasn’t yet received proof either… and it doesn’t look good.

Ashley giving a two week deadline before he pulls the plug on a sale is, to me, a clear sign that he isn’t the one holding up or stringing out the deal – it’s BZG.

If it’s the other way round we’ll sharp find out, because once the deal is off NDA’s will be out of the window and if BZG have been strung along and dumped they’ll want to keep face and credibility by spilling the beans on Ashley.

However, I’ve got an awful feeling now that BZG, like Staveley and Kenyon before them, have been blowing hot air.

Fight club nearly started up again during the day but there was some commendable restraint. Just have to wait for the official expiration of Rafa’s contract on Sunday. I expect some serious blowing off of steam.

England against India so I will be strapped in from 4am US central time (10am UK).

Runaway777 the fans had good reason to back the team last season. We wanted to persuade Rafa to stay. We wanted to lift the team to the efforts required to avoid relegation. We wanted to show the new and existing members of the squad that there was no better place to play football. We wanted to show a potential new owner what it was they were buying.

Now Rafa has been released, there’s a good chance that we’ll end up with a manager we don’t want and the soul of the squad leaving for pastures new. If Ashley fails to sell, there’s no new buyer to impress.

In short, unless there’s a sale, there is absolutely no good reason for the fans not to revolt.

Unless he sells, the gloves will be off. I’m very confident of this.

Robleenio- lol no worries mate. I understand as we all feel the same. I was referring to the luck that the fat bastard finally fks off and we can finally Sheikh n’ roll! The Entertainers seems so far away now that I am even slightly embarrassed mentioning it when I try and convince people that NUFC is a great club. We shouldn’t have had to wait so bloody long to have a proper team gradually getting better and improving year on year. It’s like the fat twat has wasted 12 years of our lives and the clubs enduring a miserable run and in a way ensuring it remains hopeless. He needs to get out now! We’ve convinced ourselves that he knows nowt about football and he’ll learn from the error of his ways but he won’t, he never will because he doesn’t give a shit that’s why.He is the cancer of this once great club and we need a Sheikh or some owner with money and ambition to take this sleeping giant to glory. I can’t wait for that to happen, I really can’t anymore. If the twat doesn’t F Off this time I won’t waste anymore energy until he does leave and I can dream again. It pains me to say it but I feel I have to try and move on, for the good of my health. It’s too depressing to see us spiral into the abyss without any chance of escaping. Sorry for my rant now lol got a little carried away.

We need an owner who will oversee a well managed and properly financed club. Rafa was handing all that to Ashley on platter. It simply required an arrangement with the bank to borrow responsibly against future earnings, and continuing to implement a variety of ways to get better more valuable assets on the pitch, in itself increasing revenue, but the owner couldn’t bear to hand over that level of authority to an employee. Pathetic.

    Ashley out.

I know what you mean Rob. I grew up in rural Canada to expat parents. No coverage of the Toon where we are. Didnt get to start watching until Ashley’s tenure began. First season i was oable to watch consistently was the first relegation season. Remember watching Duffs own goal on a dodgy 56k modem. An agonizing 10 minutes! I’ve only known bad and worse with very little hope. Surprisingly I can still dream of better. All my fingers are crossed that Ashley has had enough of toying around with us and finally sells up.

With all due respect to BZG, unless they are somehow in the loop regarding Rafa’s departure and have a solid plan in regard to a better replacement (hard to imagine or believe), then you’d have to think the deal really is dead in the water now, if it ever was really on the cards. The full ramifications of Rafa leaving have barely begun to surface I’m afraid.

The Chronic’s pieces might be better received if they started to question Ashley’s shenanigans. No been no breakthrough? They should be asking Ashley whether he’s being reasonable and honourable. Isbge trying to sell the club at a fair price or is he just being plain greedy.

“However, I’ve got an awful feeling now that BZG, like Staveley and Kenyon before them, have been blowing hot air.”

Well that was Ashley’s and company’s take on Staveley’s and Kenyon’s takeover efforts! That Staveley was merely a “time waster” and that Kenyon’s consortium could not show proof of funds.

I am sure Staveley would not consider her group’s efforts time wasting! And both her and Kenyon’s assessment of the value of the club may actually have been fair and they offered fair market bids!

So I would be careful when knowingly or unknowingly towing Ashley’s line by repeating his negative characterizations of what may have been very honest bids!

2weeks today we’ll have a new manager and ashley will promise more dialogue between him and the fans.
