The Shields Gazette have put out a report on some comments our winger Jacob Murphy has made to the Mirror.
This is what Jacob has said regarding his future at the club:
“I still very much see my future being at Newcastle United. It’s down to me and the performances I put in.”
With a new manager coming in, we would have to go with the assumption that most players will get a fair chance to show what are they are capable of this summer.
Jacob will be one of those players who will be itching to impress after a less than stellar start to his Newcastle career.
Jacob Murphy was Newcastle’s biggest transfer in the summer of 2017. The £12m signing from Norwich has thus far failed to make the grade in the Premier League.
Jacob Murphy– can the Newcastle fan make it?
This past season he made just 3 starts in 9 total appearances before going on loan to West Brom. While on loan he had his moments but ultimately failed to give any indication that he has a future at Newcastle.
These are very good words by Jacob Murphy who has accepted that it is up to him to salvage his Newcastle career.
He as much as anyone at the club will be keen to show the new manager what he is capable of. Though he may have to wait a bit as it is likely that Neil Redfearn will be taking the training when the players report back on July 4th.
Being a Newcastle supporter since a child, Jacob will have that extra bit of desire to remain in the club’s plans.
We are hoping to see a more consistent and polished Jacob this summer, but we are not sure he is of the standard to play regularly for the Magpies.

Comment #41ToonRich: I get every PL game live and that is mainly what I am concerned about. Even get some Bundesliga and La Liga games so if anything I watch too much football. Only wanted to watch the match last night to see Almiron. But thanks anyway for the advice.

Comment #44Tony – i streamed it. Almiron didn’t do anything special from what I saw. Tbf it was 10 man Paraguay against Brazil. They were under the cosh for most of the match. Yet still unlucky to lose 4-3 on penalties, Almiron calmly took his pen well tho.

Comment #45Rotunda, I liked the sound of Sergio’s style – certainly a more modern approach to football than Rafa, although my criticism of Rafa was always about his conservatism against weak teams. I was happy with the football I was watching. Martinez was hated at Everton for being awful defensively and passing the ball sideways and backwards all day. I’m not sure Toon fans would like him ?

Comment #49Looks like there might be a Sri Lankan cat among the England pigeons to go along with the Pakistan fox in the England henhouse. I always thought the Aussies and India should have been favourites. When you come up against the really good teams you cannot always slog your way to victory and Rashid is not a top line leggy and 4 samey quicks will not always work.
It is not out of the question but I would put England at about 20-1 now to win it.

Comment #51Toonrich…. why would checking the fleet make any difference?? The Sheikh would be the last person coming over to broker a deal. In fact I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t ever have to sign a single thing, that’s what CEO’s and law firms are for. And there definitely wont be anyone using the royal fleet other than the royal family, so what does checking them do??

Comment #60There were some things about Rafa’s situation that I never got. As I said, always going through Charnley to talk to Ashley. But also, acting like we were living in 1950 when there were no mobile phones and no skype. In a normal world you would think Rafa would just call Fat Mike and say – I like this Almiron player and we need to do all we can to get him, he could be the difference between relegation and 120 million form TV rights next year.

Comment #62Bills Son……….. Surely before committing to due diligence the would be buyers had a reasonable idea of what they were prepared to pay and what Fatboy was likely to accept. Obviously there is some further negotiating to be done before a deal is concluded but the fact that no sale has happened thus far indicates to me that goalposts have definitely been moved and future involvement with advertising and revenue streams demanded by The Greedy One.
He has also very astutely silenced all the explanations of failed attempts to buy the club with strict NDO’s so that his shenanigans remain unexposed. What a delightful owner we have.

Comment #63Jib: Brian Clough did. I will paraphrase but you can probably find the quote –
I decide I want a player and I sit down with the Chairman and we have a full and frank discussion as to the merits or otherwise of the transfer – and then decide I am right.
We don’t really have a Chaiman. Most think Charnley is a puppet. And that is being kind.
Anyway, why do you call me Mr,. Baloney?

No, no , no. Not having that.Think you got the wrong person there. In his first season at Everton they scored the most goals in a season in their entire history, finishing 5th and getting into Europe, playing fantastic free flowing football. Following season dropped off to 12th I think. Final season went early doors after having to sell Stones etc.
Everton don’t give mangers much time, Moyes apart. Hate is very strong word and if anything it was that he spent so much time attacking to the possible detriment of the defense. Does that remind you of a very famous alliterative former hero at SJP.

Comment #68I can name a few owners who are/were hands on. Everton. John Henry at Liverpool. Abramovitz was (in sackings anyway), Kronke at Arsenal installed his son I think, or maybe it was the other owner, Donald at the Mackems, the nutter at Leeds, Ken Bates. There is a long, long list but I will not go on.

Comment #69Why because Ashley knows hes human and with face to face meetings one on one, he may agree to something he later regrets. It’s far easier to say no over an email or through a minion such as Charnley.
That’s exactly why. That and he probably isn’t bothered dealing with it, which speaks volumes.
Hes been like this with every manager, Keegan used to despise that he wasnt allowed direct contact with Ashley. And the one time he didn’t pay attention he called him anyways and he was told really nicely by ash he was busy and would get a call back in a few minutes Ashley never called him back and instructed Charnley to make sure Keegan didn’t call him again, that he was to strictly go through charnley.

Comment #74The Chron says that in the aftermath of Ashley’s self-inflicted Benitez disaster, Charnley is having to scramble around ‘looking for a plan B’. Does anyone doubt he’s the man for the job ? So that’ll be Dennis Wise as Director of Football and a triumphant return of Joe Kinnear as manager.
Sadly, at his first press conference of the new season, Kinnear’s head will explode in the middle of a bizarre, expletive-strewn rant but Ashley will step in and appoint Pardew on an 88-year contract. Sorted.
So hang on because the good times are coming. The future’s so bright we’ll have to wear shades ..:)
