Newcastle’s Swiss Wonderkid Makes Top List

Newcastle United youngster Yannick Toure has made the Daily Mail’s list of top Premier League players aged eighteen and under.

He joins the likes of Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, a forward who Bayern Munich are trying to sign, and Liverpool’s new Dutch signing Sepp van den Berg, a defender just bought from PEC Zwolle, as some top youngsters in England.

Toure joined Newcastle last summer on a free transfer from Young Boys in Switzerland. He had some top clubs vying for his signature.

Yannick Toure– I hope he didn’t join to play under Rafa

The Swiss forward had this to say to NUFC TV when he signed:

“I’m very happy to sign for Newcastle.”

“I’ve heard a lot about them. I know it’s a famous club in England and I’m very, very happy to be here.”

“There was a lot of interest in me, but I chose to come here because it’s a great and traditional club in England.”

Toure had some difficulty adapting initially and with slight injuries but started to shine earlier this year.

Then U23’s coach and current Academy Head of Coaches Ben Dawson had this to say about Toure in February:

“Elias (Sorensen) came across a little bit younger at 16 and it took him a while to get used to things across here and to develop.

“Yannick has proven to be the same.

“The injury in pre-season didn’t help him, but it allowed him time to get a better understanding of what was expected.

“He was able to pick up the language a bit quicker and he is spending around 10 hours a week on his English on top of his training schedule.

“He is working hard off the pitch to try and make those adjustments that we are now seeing the benefits on the pitch.

Along with Elias Sorensen, we have two very promising young strikers on the books at the moment. Let’s hope they both make the progress necessary to become Newcastle regulars sooner rather than later.

Incidentally, ex-Newcastle United youth player Lewis Gibson, who left to join Everton two summers ago, also made the list.

Handy we have toure / Sorenson – we can put straight into first team when we sell Gayle/Perez – Ashley will be happy as they’ll be on youngster wages so more cash for him

Great, I bet AshLie is rubbing his chubby hands together at the thought of how much money he can get in selling him asap.

Really hope thegeordiedentists twitter posts are for real. The worry is the screenshot he showed was only for Heads of Terms and not the Sale of Purchase agreement. It does seem we are a long way off to any deal happening. I would be more than happy not buying any player this summer if it means AshLie is out of our club come October. Then spend big in January. The problem with that is how far down in the league will we be by then?

Dunno if BZG would accept that but I bloody well hope they do. We need the fat slug out!

Gotta wonder how long it takes to buy a football club if you have lots of money and a half willing seller. Or are BZG another bunch of hagglers who just won’t pay up what Fats wants. So much for them swatting him aside with their millions.

I’m sure Ashley won’t miss our money but half empty stadia aren’t how Sky want to sell the premier League around the world so they’ll show less toon games which will hit fatty financially as well as reduce advertising opportunities and bring more bad publicity for him and his tat brand

Lads and lasses yous are fogetting that ashley has saved the clubs money for last 10years. This means we deffo going to win the league should potentially have a 500 million pound transfer budget. Cant see why rafa was asking for more tbh.

Such a selfish man rafa for actually wanting to compete as a football club. Who does he think he is?
