The Chronicle have put out a report which basically details what to expect when the players report back to training this coming Thursday.
While it is expected that U23s Head Coach Neil Redfearn will be appointed as the caretaker manager, the Chronicle point out that nothing has been determined as of yet. Which is to be expected as Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley never seem to have a plan for the chaos their reckless actions spawn.
All players will return to the first team and undergo fitness and medical testing on Thursday and Friday with training expected to start the following week.
This is also what the Chronicle is reporting on returning loan players who were frozen out of the first team.
United are also believed to have asked senior players such as Dwight Gayle, Achraf Lazaar, Jack Colback, Henri Saivet (After the African Cup of Nations) and Rolando Aarons to report to the first team HQ rather than the Academy where some of them had previously been training when not on loan.
For now, those players will have a clean slate as a new manager may want to give them another chance.
We don’t see much of a future for any of these players as they are generally not up to par with the first team regulars at the club. It will be interesting to see how they get on in training as they will be determined to prove their worth to whoever the new manager will be.
Neil Redfearn– the new face of Newcastle United?
The disaster scenario that is looming and looking very plausible is that Charnley will be incapable of hiring a manager even before the first preseason game against Wolves on July 17th. This will severely hamper the ability to bring new players in.
With the likelihood that some of our first team stars will be clamoring for the exit, we could see a depleted squad to start the season with players like Colback and Gayle in the starting eleven.
There is expected to be bids incoming for Sean Longstaff and Ayoze Perez in the coming weeks. There will certainly be others as teams may look to further unsettle Newcastle players looking for a bargain deal.
With Lee Charnley running the transfers, we just have no faith in him to get the job done at an adequate level. If the search for a new manager drags on, can Lee Charnley possibly also work on getting transfers done at the same time? We just don’t think he has it in him.
While this is the doomsday scenario, so was having no Rafa and being stuck with Mike Ashley this coming season. This is looking to be almost dead certain at the moment.
We would not expect Newcastle to sink even further and enter a season without some healthy transfer activity as Mike Ashley will not want to risk relegation. The next few weeks are going to be telling and we have to hope we have someone other than Neil Redfearn will take charge against Wolves on July 17th.
Then they can work for the next three weeks in sorting out the incoming transfers with input from the new manager. Though, we just know this is not going to go smoothly.
This is the preseason schedule for Newcastle as arranged by the great Rafa Benitez:
Wednesday, 17th July – Wolverhampton Wanderers (Premier League Asia Trophy, Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre, 6pm kick-off [local time])
Saturday, 20th July – Manchester City/West Ham United (Premier League Asia Trophy, Hongkou Stadium, kick-off tbc)
Tuesday, 30th July – Hibernian (Easter Road, 7.45pm kick-off)
Saturday, 3rd August – AS Saint-Étienne (St. James’ Park, 3pm kick-off)

Comment #8Do we have any scouts at these U21s? Spain running rings around Germany. Actually, do we have any scouts full stop with Nixon’s pending promotion? With the prices for young English players we have to be looking at the U21 WC.

Comment #9Three things I can guarantee will NOT happen tomorrow:
1. A takeover is announced.
2. Rafa spills the beans.
3. The club say anything worthwhile, useful or address the issues..
And when I say “tomorrow”, I mean the infinite tomorrow – the one that never comes.

Comment #12Christ on a bike. The new season with Redfearn in charge and colback, saivet, Aarons, Lazaar and Joselu in our starting 11.
Just think what we could have had if someone just let Rafa do his job and actually trusted him.
That people are even discussing a boycott, that it’s not a given is just beyond belief.

Comment #13I honestly think there’s an Ashley stooge “leaking” secrets – I don’t doubt some, including journo’s and perhaps Shirebrook, are being told something and it’s positive. However, these rumours have to originate somewhere and I have a funny feeling it’s deliberate leaking of false information.
Mike is perverse. He’s a sociopath and a pathological liar; his ultimate comment is that he’s not the “pantomime villain” – the irony here is a panto villain will always use terms like “oh no I’m not”, which the entire audience knows is a bare-faced lie. Just like a panto audience we know he’s a villain but are powerless to stop him. He’s a very interesting psycho.

Got to look something like this as apparently its now nailed on that all of the decent players are desperate to leave, we’ll have a yes man clown of a manager, Ashley will trouser all of the transfer dosh and believe that this team is good enough to keep the club in the Prem.
Yeh, right.

Oh dear, because I honestly believe that Steve Howey got his info from someone that reads this blog, initially OLG was so convincing that a mate of mine believed him, it is no sleight if you fell for the bollorx that OLG was posting after his first ucky guess.

And Jib, WordPress may be rocket surgery to you but it wouldn’t be wildest dreams territory at all. More like a nightmare with marginally self-aware rogue search engines like you.”
Oh dear can’t remember getting that used on you before eh?
Tony and you should write a pamphlet on the etymology or maybe even the brain science behind rocket surgery. You need it.

Comment #21They think it is a farce at Man U. And it is. But what about us? We are just as dysfunctional as them and where are our column inches?
Still Man U are funny. An MD who knows nothing about football now in charge of football for 6 years (Woodward). Remind anybody of Charnley in Charge?
But they also have Sanchez on 500k a week, are trying to buy off Rashford with a quarter mil a week, Instagram Hero is just causing more and more trouble and of course the have little Gone By Christmas.
If we have Redfearn start the season as Manager I would say we are even more dysfunctional than them. Only the Mackems are worse.

Comment #26Tsunki: do you really want to go there with something that was obviously around before you might have coincidently said it to your kids? Give it up. And the Harrison comparison was a joke as well. If you had a leg to stand on you should press ahead but just cock that leg to urinate on your shed and prove you are alpha dog.

Comment #28Any player with ambition will want to leave
Any player with it wont want to join
We dont pay the wages either, so we will get players who want to be in the prem that nobody else wants
Fair enough
But the best bit is we are going to make sure the manager is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard
All due to the fact MA wants to make sure every penny he can take is taken.
The every penny quote is what he wants
Rafa could have been retained with minimal outlay on the youth setup. He wasnt able to spend what the club made within its means
As that was MAs

Why is that ?
As the prem dont want MA,he brings nothing to the table. He is here to exploit football, and especially the prem to advertise his tat shops and make money from football
They want him gone as he taints the brand

Comment #34What makes me confident we won’t lose anyone?
Errr… I didn’t say anyone.
I’m repeating the nonsense that ALL of our decent players are now rattled and want out.
If Man U couldn’t hold on to Ronaldo, LPool to Suarez or Cotinhou, Arsenal to Sanchez, Spurs to Bale or Walker etc., etc., why is it judged an outrage when we can’t hold on to some of our best players??
Saying all, or most, of our best players will be sold is just plain daft.

Comment #35So we start the season in disarray
With a manager who is under pressure before hes started, most probably not wanted by anyone but MA
A team who wants away, and players returning who wernt wanted by anyone
In a league who wants us gone

Comment #37Not only has Ashlie not invested in our club, he has also let down the city. All of his lack of ambition has had a negative effect on local business, lost revenue from fans travelling to the area for games that we should have been playing in, FA cups, leagues cups etc. The council must know this and they must want him out as much as we do.
With this being said, I think it would be brilliant if they could set up huge fan zones in the city on home games where the matches can be streamed. This way the city businesses still get the match day revenue, While the boycott hits him where it hurts.
It would show how the fans and the city are together and united in getting rid of this parasite that is infesting our region!
